Oh, for pete's sake....

It's Ari-Ben and, according to the JC, this was a short term thing that was quickly resolved from the "FAA legal to fly" standpoint.

I'll make no other judgements about the place other than to say it's controversial. Check JC for more info. Long, sordid, history, there.

If you ever wonder where a poster is coming from, what their background is, you can simply search their posting history for previous comments.

Everything you say here is forever saved on the internet, forever. Think about that before you hit the post button.

Not quite forever. Aren't the posts disappearing after about a year or so?

Thats funny and its not all at the same time. I used to flight instruct at a school and we kept on having little things wrong with every aircraft. it gets annoying after a while, but then little thing add on to more little things and then before long you get into an aircraft and your seat flys back, your radio knobs fall off and your transponder box fall out from under the cowling. Needless to say I quit that school that day, and for good reason, cause next would be my engine quitting over trees.

Getting to the point, if you ever feel unsafe or there is anything wrong with that aircraft you shouldn't fly it!!!!!!!!! If the installed equipment does not work it renders it unairworthy and needs to either be placarded before you leave or fixed. I go with the fixed side than the other. Also please go to another flight school and make sure to look into what kind of maintenence program they have. If they have to send the aircraft away for a 100 hr or annual then you might not have aircraft to fly for the next week.

Default Amazed...

I'm always amazed at what people will ignore when renting a plane.

A little context: Hertz Rent-A-Car washes and cleans each car between rentals. If the radio is busted, it doesn't leave the lot. I have rented a Ford Shelby GTH for $129 for the day.

I drive that same car to the local airport to rent a multi for around $200+ an hour and half the radio stack doesn't work, the interior smells of stale sweat and desperation, and half bald tires.

Then I get done with the flight and I'm being charged a fuel surcharge on an aircraft that advertises "wet rates". Then insurance, even though I carry my own renters insurance.

Why do schools get away with this? Because we let them. I have ditched more than one FBO/ school because of p*ss poor maintenance. If they advertise a plane with GPS, autopilot, DME, dual NAV/COMM, ect that's what I want operational. That's what I'm paying for, that's what I expect to get.

There is no excuse for poorly maintained aircraft. If it's not flyable, don't fly it. Even if that means pushing back a checkride, extending your training time, whatever. If you rent it and they make money off of it, they won't fix it.
