I used to belong to West Valley Flying club too. I was a member when PAO was their only location.

How about Trade Winds Aviation? I think they moved from San Jose To Reid Hillview. I set up their 141 program when I was chief instructor there. I don't know what its like now.

Clubs change from year to year. Ownership may change. Instructors change. Pick your instructor wisely, where ever you go.
Tradewinds has alot of new 172SP's, pretty good school, although I know nothing about the instructors there.

Ahart Aviation in Livermore, not too bad. I work there, and have done most of my training there. Instructors are solid, airport is also not too bad.
Check it out...

I received my ASEL at Ahart and was very happy with the instruction I received there. I then went up to ATP at SAC for their Career Pilot Program. I got my multi add-on there, but the quality of flight instruction was awful. I'm going back to Ahart next week!

Avoid Bel Air in KSQL like the plague! I was ripped off like crazy there. The owner is a crook, and treats his CFIs like dirt.

Advantage Aviation in KPAO is a great place. I went there and did some flying with an instructor named Libor before going to XJT- awesome guy, great facility and genuinely nice people.

Thanks for sharing. Living in bay area there just so many flight schools. It is a problem finding out which is a good school and which one is not. I might have been overpaying for my lessons in Santa Rosa, CA
