Just to give my 2 cents, take it for what its worth.

I will say that ATP serves its function, not more not less. Personally I have been treated well by them, but I do know that my experience isn't everyone's and I know personally many that have had negative experiences. Next week I'll hit 1500 which will be 23 months from when I started at 0 time having started out of high school (10 months student 13 cfi). There is a large (not majority) of the program completions that go 7/7, myself included however I do think that the program isn't for everyone. From a CFI perspective there are a lot of students who are initially accepted but do not make it through. You will be pushed through to hold up ATPs end of the bargain of trying to keep you on time and it falls on you to do the work. The company has started to put more measures in place within the past 6 months to filter through prospective students in advance and they (within the past 2 months) have adopted a much more thorough vetting of the Program Completions before they are turned loose as CFIs for ATP. With these recent changes it's impossible to see the outcome of these recent improvements obviously but I would be surprised if they had no effect.
