If you go to an FBO that is part 141 and VA approved, then you'll get your GI benefits. You can find regular FBO's who meet that criteria, not just a college/university. And yes, FBO's are often (not always) cheaper than colleges. Colleges will jack up prices to rediculous levels. Not all do, and I don't know what your school will charge...but there are many out there that do. FBO flying is well worth it. And through state tuition, you can still have your college paid for. See if your eligible for the GI kicker as well.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Just talked to the local FBO(SWGR) and yes they are a 141 school. Lady i spoke with said that they have their paper work in for VA approval(evidentally you need that) and then they will be able to accept military benifits. She also said that they will not cover PPL but will cover everything else so whoot that would save me a ton on gas and cash. Thanks for the heads up. Now do you know if i can use the Hazelwood act at the Part 141 school or not(she didn't know)

As far as I know the school needs to be 141 and VA approved. There may be a few other minor requirements...but I don't know of any off the top of my head. Just ask them on the phone if they accept GI benefits. They should have someone who can answer all those questions for you. Also, like you said keep in mind the GI Bill doesn't cover the private pilot certificate. But it'll cover 60% of the advanced stuff...and a few other little odds and ends. If you can get a regular 141 school to cover your training, and have the Guard pay for your state tuition your in a pretty good position to graduate with a four year degree with little debt...especially with the additional money from the kicker.
