Thanks for all of the info. It is very helpful. I will be graduating college in January, and then start my training shortly after. I will be doing alot of research about FBO in my area (Birmingham and Atlanta). I'm know of a few and I'm sure there are plenty especially in ATL.
I found this program. It's a Career program for about 10-20 thousand less than an academy, and looks pretty good. Anyone know about this place?

They are paying you except I think it's like $7-$10 an hour for instructing. They have a conference call once every couple of weeks where you can ask questions of an admissions officer, a person from the flight department, and a pilot that graduated from DCA. On mine, the pilot was supposedly a 747 FO with either Evergreen or Atlas ( I can't remember) and supposedly was in the plane waiting on the fuel truck to finish. He then suddenly had to go as to push back from the gate. I'm going to call all of that BS as it seemed to sensationalized and coincidental for me.

The guy is a 747FO with Evergreen sorry i cant remember his name but he came to my class orgionally too when he was still with Comair. As for the rest the play is like 11 an hour and I have no idea why he would have left but he does work for said company.

I guess I wasn't really doubting that he worked for Evergreen, as much as I doubted the story of him being in the actual airplane waiting to push back. I'm just thinking there would be a million other more important things to do in the cockpit moments before you push back than to be on a conference call with a bunch of prospective DCA students. It seems like it was staged and sensationalized as to infect the people on the call with SJS (Shiny Jet Syndrome). Since I had the APC (Airline Pilot Central) shot, I was not infected.

I went to DCA for private and instrument. education is EXCELLENT!!!!! no ifs, ands, or buts. however it will cost 75k++. to instruct you have to sign a hour contract then toward the end of the contract you get to do MEI course and finish your contract as MEI. youll end up with about 50 ME hrs. I got my multi private/instrument and commercial for 1/2 of what i paid at DCA but I also got 1/2 the education.
If i had to do it all over again i would still go to DCA for private and instrument cause those are the hardest 2 and establish a foundation to build on. not to mention ALOT of good habits that airlines want. but then leave to save some cash and get some multi time
good luck, whatever u do!!

I went to DCA CFI-A and CFII
I found the ground knowledge and Instrument training to be excellent...no doubt. However, I found the entire set up (housing, scheduling, aircraft) to be very disappointing. The attitude at that school can be sumed up like this,
"We are the BEST flight school anywhere and you should be willing to sacrifice everything in your life to attain your goal."
I found that very unappealing. I left with mixed feelings. If you plan to take the CFI route for hour building...stay away from DCA.

The point has probably already been made but having friends who went both routes, ATP and DCA: the ATP student is at a major now and the DCA guy had to leave because he was already $50k in the whole with only an ppl/instrument ticket in hand, he's instructing at the local FBO getting just as much multi time as DCA could have ever given him. DCA is a waste of money and besides there are tons of instructional videos to help give you the "education" if you're disiplined enough to watch them and study. Just my .02

please PM me about DCA instead of listening to people who have never gone there.
I wouldn't tell a 737 pilot how to do this thing woud I now? He shouldn't be telling ya how, what school to go to. You DO NOT spend more then 35,000 at DCA, of course there are tricks to it.
please pm me if you wanna know more.
