Tampa Bay Flight School Experiences
Looking for feedback from any prior students of St Pete Air, Global Pilot Academy, or Superior Aviation Gateway. Lakeland would also be an option with a bit of a commute. This would be for a zero to hero type schooling with a max of a year to be a cfii. A little bit about me if it will help with your comments: I am 45 married but the kids are grown. This is a second career because my original business was just bought out by a bigger competitor. So I'm going to cash their check and do what I've always wanted to do. The wife doesn't care as long as there is a beach within a short drive.
Edit: Just a quick comment to save ya'll from asking me why I want to be a pilot. How do I even know if I like flying, etc. I grew up with a grandpa who was a naval aviator and took me flying all the time as a kid. Unfortunately he passed when I was a teen and the flying stopped but he had already planted the bug in me. Thanks for any and all help!

I am a current student at Kingsky Flight Academy at LAL in Lakeland. They have an impressive fleet of planes, lots of instructors, and great rates. It is a bit of a drive however out to Lakeland.
Atlas Air also works out of Peter O'Knight airport located on Davis Island which is downtown Tampa, and they have a second training center at Plant City airport.
When I was looking for flight training these were the 2 that I was considering, but ended up going with Kingsky due to financial reasons.
Would love to get some dual time in once you begin training in the area! Its an awesome place to fly.

I maybe relocating to the area to go full time with training. Will have my PPL by the time we come (start of May). Would love to share some time in the air. Maybe we can get an email conversation going as I'm also looking at flight schools etc.

I had a very positive experience at St Pete Air. I trained from Oct. 2017 to July 2018, got my Private & Instrument. Good staff and great maintenance. Good Luck.
