Commercial Seaplane Add-on

Commercial Seaplane Add-on
If you are a commercial pilot with less than 250 hours because you did your training part 141/142...and you go to Jack Brown's which is part 61...can you get the add on even though you don't meet the minimums? I assume that the minimums are just for the initial rating and not any add-ons? Just want to make sure! Thanks!

Logically you should be able to, but a quick read of 61 doesn't show any exceptions to the experience requirements for 141 ticket holders. If you read it verbatim you need to meet the 61 requirements.
I would ask the FSDO to be sure.

It would fall under the additional ratings category of part 61. You already have your commercial rating. I know a number of people that did their commercial multi and then jumped in a 172 and did the SE-Add on part 61.
Check with the FSDO though, they may interpret it differently than the one I deal with does.

I did this with a 141 Comm MEL SEL. I was under 250TT. I already had my Private SES.
You already have a Commercial License. You are adding an additional rating. You could possibly get a SES Comm in 1 flight. Just do the items in the PTS to standards and you will get it no problem.
