Smoke inside cabin
I was flying with my instructor today and we smelled smoke inside the cockpit right after doing the cruise checklist. We did not visually see the smoke but we appeared to smell a really strong electrical smoke. We truned off the master and radios. We then turned back and made it down ok. Scared the sh!t out of us.

Good call, always er on the safe side of things. I'm one that tends to want to isolate the problem if it's not causing any apparent problems at that moment, but that's all pending situation, can't always do that.

I had the same thing happen to me but on my PPL checkride, but we had a lot of smoke coming into the cabin... made it hard to see/breathe. Declared an emergency and landed ASAP. Turned out to be just paint chipping onto the duct for the heater (it was winter) and then the warm air pumped into the cabin brought the smoke with it.
Good call for landing, its better to err on the side of caution than have a catastrophic problem. Glad to hear you guys are ok.
