Default Regional as a means of building time.

So I hear all these bad things about mesa, blah blah blah... but I was just talking to an Air Midwest FO today and he told me they will pretty much hire anyone with a ME rating and 300TT(to fly the 1900's im guessing).

Now what would be the bad deal about getting hired, getting paid to gain ME time? and then once you get 1200TT + what, 900ME why not just try and get on with someone else? Just seems like a great, cheap, fast way to build multi time?

Plus you could always instruct on the side.

In theory nothing at all. However keep in mind that if you do that you are accepting to work for substandard conditions(which standard are bad enough) and thus giving the industry one more reason not to get any better. If you have the time apply at better places. Ask here to find which ones offer more. They are all hiring for the most part. American Eagle just saw me on airlineapps.com and I'm getting phone calls, emails, and this weekend a couple letters in the mail. I'm about to have to count them as spam on the email lol. It's just working for the one you really want to that might be the challenge. But once in you can get your time and do so for a much better company.

Do some research....it is called seniority, and you my friend would be at the bottom of that if you jump ship, not to mention that the bridges that you walk on could burn right underneath your feet. Also if most of you fellow co workers found out what you were doing, well to put it nicely, you would be the scum that we all aspire to ride the industy of. Nothing wrong with leaving an airline if you dont like it after a while, but to join a pilot group just to get to another one, well like I said, just plain scum. Go jets is hiring by the way. by the way TD did you wear your backpack to your interview?

Well, you won't have the PIC minimums for an ATP so you'll sit in the right seat while all the flight instructors that were hired after you upgrade. Second, as an instructor I'm making more than I would at Air Midwest and I'm getting enough multi time to be competative. Third, you can't instruct on the side at most airlines because it's either against policy or you're flying so much that you time out fast.

lol you're such an idiot. Ok I'll bite. What's wrong with a backpack again? Have you ever tried trecking for ten days through a jungle in Thailand or going on a two week safari in Kenya or packing it through Morocco or Egypt with a roller bag? lol you tool. Normally I wouldn't but I guess I couldn't leave out the almighty sigep lol. I'm starting to find you funny.

***Go make a list of companies that work where you'd like to work then put them in order from best to worst. Then apply at the best ones and wait till you get hired on there. Don't do something to shave a year now that could possibly hurt your carrier in the longrun.

By the time I get my MEI, and do a few flights with students I'll have 100 hours easy. I instruct at a university flight program so I know I'll have mutli students.

im still confused.. remind me why this is bad. i thought getting a job in aviaton the quickest is always best. and isn't that the point of all regionals to build time and move on to another airline? (keep in mind im only 20, so im not old enough to get an ATP anyway)

There is the fast way, and the easy way. There is, however no fast easy way.

Instruct for a while, go to college, get your PIC time up and learn about flying. You'll be a better pilot in the long run.

Go to mesa, you'll be sitting in the right seat making next to nothing because you can't upgrade. Finally get enough time to leave (after buying more flight time to build PIC) and go back to the BOTTOM of the payscale with all that debt from MAPD.
