$175k vs. $96K (not counting matching), IF you are financially stable enough to put $23,000 into a 401k on $96,000 in income, certainley you would be able to invest even a portion of the $80,000 difference to make up for what you would lose in the lower 401k match, including easier to buy real estate which gives significant tax advantages (or even just invest your per diem savings and not having to pay for parking).
no one at Flex is getting that $175K. That includes 100% of the bonus. And 0.00% of the pilots are getting 100% of the bonus. 😂😂

So what number do you suggest being used, $165k vs $96k...doesnt really make a difference (especially when you add back in Per Diem and Parking at base)

Most new NetJets pilots don't make $96/year either. It really depends on the airplane you get and how long you wait for IOE. Get in the Latitude or CL350, easily can make another $30-$40K of FDP, especially with FDP at $200/hour. Just flew with a new FO who I met up on his last 3 days. He flew 40 hours so with 30 hours of paid FDP, he got an extra $6K in FDP on his paycheck with a % going to his 401K.

I would suggest a more realistic 195 days a year instead of 202 and not including any bonus money unless you are including all the NJA soft money too. Otherwise your comparison is dishonest because you're pretending they make no extra and you make 100% of the extra.

I also don’t think $96k is a fair comparison. You include all the bonuses and per diem for that $165k number. $96k is straight salary, not including FDP, over time, night pay, holidays, after midnights, extended days…. What does flex pay for after midnights and holidays or extra days? I’m not saying first year NJ makes more but it isn’t that far apart. I think end of year we should have a pay comparison showing days worked versus net pay. Could be interesting. I will say for me the guarantee 7/7 schedule makes up for the slight loss if there is any. What is flex cost for insurance?

195 days per year is not realistic if you are on the 8/6 schedule (and my comparison was using both companies 8/6 schedule). So if we dont include ANY bonus money, Flex is at $156,000, NJ is at $79,000. If you want me to include FDP in NJ figures and not put bonuses in Flex figures, who is being dishonest? I have been as fair as I can with these figures, I am happy to adjust them but the problem with NJ soft money is it is VERY fleet dependent, it is VERY airplane dependent (get on a broken airplane, watch FDP drop) and best we can do is come up with some sort of average. We also havent talked about 2nd year pay where at Flex you can upgrade to CA and get to $193k (using 202 days, 15% bonus, $4,000 bonus, not including $18k deferred comp, per diem or parking) and NJ goes up by $6,000 to $86,000. So getting back to the original question, yes, Flex's retirement is not as good as NJ however they more than make up for it in other areas.

year 1 8/6 fo salary is $105k. A better comparison would be the CC72 schedule which pays $110k year one before any fdp, overtime etc.
upgrade has been around 15-18 months recently. Year 2 capt pay on 8/6 is $182k and CC72 is $192k. If you want to compare the top of the scale I can provide those numbers also.

I agree soft money can be fleet dependent and we have tried to fix that. I’m not sure where you are getting your NJ numbers but you are off.
