Because someone in the Flex thread asked about the contract amendment at NetJets.

I don’t think it will have any impact on staffing or hiring since we’re not doing either right now. Who knows when we’ll be hiring again? Nothing has been said in the rumor mill. We are taking more aircraft deliveries next year. It’s my uneducated option that we’ll have to start hiring in 2021.

I asked the question because this thread had left the new hire salary subject. I believe it is relevant to the topic of “new hire salary” to know the comparison between Netjets and Flexjet.

We can easily do a side by side after we find out if the new contract passes at NetJets. We should know on Dec 30.

2022 hiring would be my guess.

If they were hiring pre covid, then got a boost in card & fractional sales wouldn't it make sense that they'd need to resume hiring in anticipation of a return to normalcy?

Not necessarily. The new contract modification (WHEN it passes), will encourage more people onto longer schedules. Longer schedules with the same pilots means more pilot days in the system means fewer new pilots needed moving forward.

If the marketing guy’s interview in Forbes is to be believed, the post Covid aircraft acquisitions and increase in business will ultimately require more pilots. Eventually. Just no telling whether that will be next year or push into 2022.

We have gone to selling a Marquis Card that can now be used over 2 years versus the standard 1 year. We have also matched our competitors in equal airplanes for actual time when less then 1 hour and other changes. The people that are now buying into our card program I seriously doubt many of them will convert to fractional. Hopefully by then the business travelers will be back.

the entire world economy got a kick square in the family jewels. It’s going to recover long after we have forgotten about the virus. I think 2022 is too optimistic, actually. 2023 maybe more realistic. Netjets is a great position to allow itself to get smaller and still be able to service its owners without issue.
