FedEx First Year Info for New Hires...

BI to sim was 2 weeks
Start of training to IOE completion: 82days. My partner and I were both new hire FOs. Under the current contract new hires do not get 1 week off after the MV. If you are a new hire teamed up with a current employee transitioning into your airframe then you will get 1 week off because he gets 1 week off. Everyone gets one week off after IOE before you start flying the line.
Pay: day 1 BI to IOE completion just under $17500
Bid: there are lots of short trips so If you get a line you have lots of flexibility to trade and drop. I expect to be on RA for the first 5 months of line flying and then RB for another 3-4 months based on recent bid awards.
Vacation: expect to NOT get any summer months or holidays. I ended up with February. I was however able to turn 6 days into 8 and only work 7 days this bid period. Vacation is complicated. Ask experts for their input. I called our scheduler after I built my reserve request and she set me straight on how to input what I was trying to do and it was approved with no problem.
They did start a new program where you can bring your wife to the first 2 days of BI. It was infancy when we did it so I may have changed. Hopefully some recent new hires can add more information to this.
I really enjoy the MD.

Well, I've managed to get the extra 12 hours each month through trip trading, picking up proffered trip pick ups, and getting AVA. Combining that and keeping to roughly 73 hours of pay for the period by dropping reserves/trips got me about 65 hours of makeup.
The rest of the 60ish hours came by dropping training in the middle of a long day stretch of RA next month. While I end up with a lower RLG and the need to pay myself out of savings to make ends meet, the benefit is I'm getting 26 days off in March (to pickup AVA if it ever comes back...or to do needed chores around the house ) at the expense of having to work a little extra after year two pay comes around to "cash in" my hours saved.
It's not a perfect plan, but it should pay off....as long as I don't get fired before cashing in!

Impressive. I need to learn your technique. Did you drop all your reserve days and most trips for the past 3 months?

Welcome to the Company!
I was on the MD for 3 years, RA the entire time.
What a great time for y'all!

Not sure what you mean. It was easy. I got my fourth bid request for March awarded (2 blocks of RA....yes I bid this to guarantee being off for Spring Break) and I got my third bid request for training which bisected the longer of the two RA blocks....hence this block was dropped.
With that said, upon further review, I guess technically March will be the fifth month I've bid for on the line since I'm currently in the fourth month right now. I was awarded a custom line for Dec post IOE. So that timing probably makes more sense. I guess my original post included alternative facts....sorry, these last few months have gone by fast!! Time flies when you are having fun, right?
The big takeaway from all of this for those considering FedEx (or expecting to start soon and wondering what it's like) is that the march up the seniority list here is a quick-paced one right now. I was awarded and have flown nothing but RB flights Jan and Feb. This is insanely awesome IMHO as many here spent years burning the midnight oil on RA.
The other takeaway/advice I'll throw out there is to move to the area. As a junior guy not commuting I've been able to be selective on when I go flying when picking up trips. The end result in all of this is starting with IOE in October, I've been home for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day (spent New Year's Eve in the road....my own doing), and I'm going to be home for Valentines Day, my Daughter's bday, all of Spring Break, and Fall Break (vacation award). Other than the vacation award, I directly consider living here as the primary reason for being able to work my schedule to get those days off. Had commuting been an issue, I'd more than likely be singing to a different tune right now.
Hope this helps.

Why the need to track it at all? At my previous 5 airlines if you dropped something, dropped it period you didn't get paid for what you drop. There was no limit on to how much you could work either. If you wanted to fly 100 hours you could. I mean by overly complicating things why the need to limit how much you can work by having a bank? Only being able to work 6 hours extra a month or 12 by trip trading if you you have a line really is foreign to me.
Dont get me wrong I love FedEx its been great, and I am not trying to make this a mil vs civ. thread derailment.

They're mainly after the TN folks moving down to MS, using the better school systems, and attempting to avoid the higher registration costs in MS. Car registration and tags are very expensive in MS vs TN (most other states). They actually patrol the school drop off/pickups at the beginning of each semester and sometimes patrol the Apartment complexes. I myself was ticketed 11 years ago within the first week of moving into a Southaven Apartment Complex, but I did have a TN tag and truly did establish residency. Fine was dropped, because you actually have 30 Days to register after "establishing residency."
Mississippi Car Registration Requirements & Steps | DMV.org
Plenty of guys crashing in Southaven and Olivebranch with various other state tags that don't get Ticketed. Crashpad in my Southaven neighborhood with Washington, Florida, and various other tags. They don't seem to have any issues. With that being said, proceed at your own risk.
"MS Vehicle Registration for Non-Residents
You do not have to apply for a Mississippi vehicle registration certificate if you're an out-of-state student studying at a Mississippi college or university.
If you're a non-resident working in Mississippi, you must obtain MS license plates if:
You maintain a house or apartment in the state.
You register to vote in Mississippi."

It can't be registered in two places at once, and you can only have one permanent residence. Trust me I would love to avoid paying personal property tax in MO every year, but I doubt MO is going to let me get away with this.
The above statement about non-resident working in MS doesn't seem applicable anyways because you are in fact working in TN.
I guess if this is a problem I should find a crashpad in TN?
Thanks for the help.

legal advice from an aviation website is always good a good idea. Sign up for the met life legal plan and talk to a lawyer. That said if I drove my car down to work I would register it at home. If it is an Airport car I would register it at my crash pad even if the majority of the time it is in the FedEx Democrat Lot.
