Also on your own, as you are not considered an FDA pilot until after training. After that, you do get a hotel/car for recurrent.

You are considered MEM based until you complete you OE activation.

I used to do it a good bit on the 76, but I’d have to look through the other bid packs.

Looks like a 76 instead of the Bus next month.
Thanks for looking. My SSN is pretty low so I expect zero say in what I could get. Step 1: get phone call.

You will be surprised due to other people wanting different things than you, who are above you. Its one of the beauties of this job. Doesn't take a lot of seniority to hold any specific airplane especially in MEM.

How about a 74, how much seniority would it take in MEM... Soooo kidding NWKplay. Couldn’t resist. Besides, you can can go buy one, I had to find someone willing to let me near one.

That was funny haha. That would be a fun airplane to fly. Its mission isn't my style though. I get oxygen deprivation after being in the air more than 3 hours.

Doing some financial planning for first year, just wanted to double check my assumptions and gather some input. I'm assuming 4 months at Training pay (4k), then 8 months at year 1. For training I would need to pay for a room (4 months). As a commuter, I would need a crash pad after that.

Any other expenses I should consider? What sorts of prices are guys going through training paying per month for rooms? I appreciate it!

FedEx will pay for a hotel room during BI (first two weeks). After that, you’re on your own. Most commuters get a crashpad for training (and likely keep it thereafter since you’ll likely be on reserve). I would expect to pay $250/mo for a shared room crashpad, or $350-450/mo for a private room crashpad. You’ll probably want a private room crashpad at least for training since you’ll be there all the time.

You’ll most likely need a car staged in Memphis as well, so $1k-$3k for a beater is realistic.
