For example, let's say I leave active duty in December, and am available to start January. How far back in the year would I know I have a job offer?

Any help is appreciated, Thanks!
Probably the same as your UPS post.

They give you the CJO a couple days later. Unknown how deep or how long you will be in the pool. Internal communication last night said starting in February they plan for 50 new hires a month.

That is some funny stuff, well played hunter.

Classes have been filled quickly from interview to starting BI, < three months, not sure of the future, no one has that crystal ball. Apply, get hired, then adjust your life to fit the class offered. Know that you are not alone in your quest, if you like the AD just a little, might go to 20. If it is intolerable, then chart your course and don't look back no matter where the course takes you.

It is an impossible answer to know, because there are too many variables in the question.

There's no "perfect" way to plan things so that you'll leave active duty and roll smoothly into a class date. Sometimes that's possible, but it relies on way too many things that are entirely out of your control.

You have to throw a stake in the ground with respect to your exit from active duty, put the actual date that you are available to start class on your application, and then have reasonable secondary and tertiary plans if you don't have a newhire class date in a reasonable amount of time.

Other fleets are probably going to be at least double that. Just for comparison, I’ve been here for a little over 3 years and in the MD, and 76, there were only a few lines with DDH I could hold, probably a dozen in the Airbus, and none in the 777. Until you hit 70-80% seniority in seat, you most likely going to have a reserve line or a VTO that has reserve on it. Of course the more hiring into the fleet the better with this. If I walked in the door as a new hire today and had to pick a fleet, I’d pick 75 for quickest growth, and MD or Airbus for wide body with fastest growth.
By "growth" I assume you mean relative bidding seniority......

TPA/MCO is easy, not sure about RSW.

Good Question!

As many here will tell you, the MD has been said to be "dying" for at least the past 10 years. Lots of new hire slots in MEM, with a few in ANC and LAX as well.

As a new hire your progression will be quick, as I believe the most recent guys hired onto it were up to 55% on bid 20-02.

I made the move with the family to base and haven't regretted it. You want international trips? No problem. Domestic? No problem. Draft calls almost everyday you're off? Yep. This is my experience only, so if someone needs more info, feel free to PM.

This is not at all true. ATL is a very hard commute. It's a top 5 hardest according to seat availability. If you don't book the JS exactly 20 days and 23 hours and 59 minutes and 59 seconds ahead of time, you're not getting on.. I did it for @3 years and finally caved and moved..
