FedEx First Year Info for New Hires...
#171
If you are, you need to work on your delivery.
If you're not... that's troubling for two reasons.
1. Why is this a bad thing. Why shouldn't we give new hires something? I know... I didn't get a paid to Memphis, so no one else should either. Keep pulling that ladder up.
2. "Just another reason I'm glad I voted no!!!" AYFKM? You're just finding out about this paid move now?!?! Another low-information "no" voter. Let me guess, you just read the sections that pertained to you and nothing else. You voted "no" without doing any due diligence, not reading the full CBA. It astounds me how many "no" voters I run into that still are surprised by things in the CBA. Didn't you guys read anything before voting, or did you just vote on what your buddies told you to do.
Personally, I don't care how people voted, as long as it was an educated vote based on factual information and words in the CBA. Not on some internet rumors.
For what it's worth, the fact that we are now paying for a move to Memphis for new-hires was in the "Pro" column for me when I was deciding how to vote. And I'm far from being a new-hire.

And I didn't say that all no voters were "low information" voters. I get the no vote. I really do, there were plenty of real items in the "Con" column that were legitimate reasons to vote against the CBA. I was just saying that I'm surprised by the no voters that I've talked to that are surprised by what good things may be in this CBA. There's also the "what did we give up for that?" crowd when discussing a positive that they may not get. Mostly stuff for new-hires or junior pilots.
I overheard a Captain recently talking about the negatives of the FDA to a new-ish hire. How the cost of living is so high, and on 1st year NB pay it's impossible. I pointed out that new-hires in the FDAs get $100/hour min, and with the new New Hire Junior Activation Compensation most recent new hires in CGN to to WB pay when they hit their 2nd year. And in the FDA section with the NHJAP Deferral paragraph, they don't even have to have a WB in their Standing Bid to keep the WB pay in CGN. This was a surprise to the advise-giving Captain, and I got a "what did we have to give up for that..." Unbelievable.
That's what I rail against. Not the "No" votes, but the people who voted "No" (or "Yes") without doing their due diligence.
...and I guess I'll have to re-calibrate my on-line sarcasm detector...

We had 6 in our indoc at start of month. I think the lowest one had a last 4 beginning with 5. They also said the "plan" right now is most likely no more 777 new hires until maybe December. Of course that can always change.
