Not sure if you're asking because you want to go or afraid you might have to go. You can not be forced to go to any of the Foreign Domiciles. You have to ask to go.

Default Commuting?

How hard is it to commute to MEM from NYC or SFO?

Not hard at all. Particularly with EWR and OAK as back ups. Might be the easiest 7 day a week options.

Commuting at Big Purple is easy! The only places where this is not true are Jacksonville, the Pensacola area, and Denver. I think there are a few other places where the company jumpseat is competitive, but for the most part getting to work is easy. And if you are on a FDX jumpseat, you are protected.

Atlanta and Dallas are also competitive.

And CHS tops the list as a horrible commute. You gotta have jump seats to complain about them being too competitive.

And you are only protected on an FDX jumpseat for SOME of the flights you report for.

Dallas has a bunch of commuters. With that said, in the last year I have only had to go offline 2 times. AA and Southwest fly directly into Memphis.

EWR-MEM has got to be one of the easiest commutes in the system (second only to probably Germantown-MEM) Plenty of flights, day and night. I commuted out of there for 12 years and never did I have to take a jumpseat offline. Also, there's no worry of the "I have to get on PFC at midnight 3 weeks prior to book it." Many times I just booked the seat a day or two before I have to go. Easy-peasy.

I would love to go. How long is the assignment? 48 mos and then another 12 mos extension?

Since you are asking: can anybody weigh in on pros and cons of a foreign assignment rights off the bat (geo location aside)? Or would it be wiser to give it a year?? And if that were the case, should one try and bid for the 75 since that's what's flown in CGN?
