I have flown the 1311 flight many times over the years. This article was incorrect on a few minor things. Sometimes it does have passengers (generally jumpseaters who didn't realize what the 1311 flight does, or can't get on the later jumpseats to Memphis). We always warn them, and ask if they are absolutely sure they want to take this flight. Sometimes there is a bit of freight, I've taken 30K before out of Denver on the 1311, and the more the better, less chance you'll be rerouted. We go a lot more than 200 miles the wrong way, and I don't think it operates on Fri-Sun nights. I actually enjoy the 1311 flight, it's kind of exciting, because you don't know where you'll end up....though it's usually Memphis, sooner or later. I'd say I get swept somewhere about half the time.
