Default ALPA'S Fatiguevs tired memo

John C. Is a good guy. Flew with him on the 72 long ago, good Captian. He has a good heart and mind for the union and I'm glad he stepped up.

But, He did not tell all the story. He is not negligent he just may not know.

1 If you call in to CRS fatigugied, they immediatly will transfere you to the DO.

2. The DO like a clever police detective WILL interogate you. He,she will ask the same questions in another form to see if your story changes. They have even called me back and asked me again.

3. They will want to know if their were any circumstancest that led to your tired condition. BEWARE the are feeding you rope so you can be hung.

4. This is all recorded on the DO's daily log.

5. This will be on your pilot reportcard. A managment tool that only they can see. This at other airlines has been abolished. Currently for us its in a grey area of our contract and our "rights" to see our personnel file. You are not allowed to see this.

6. Your fleet Capt will read the DO notes and may call you. Faking ignorance, wants to know what FDX or "we " can do better to help you. Again this is ONLY to see if your story changed or if you would like a noose for the aformentioed rope.

7. If you call in FAT. Remeber Detective Joe Friday. "Just the facts"
say as little as possible.

It's the same way at ABX. Same exact treatment....must be something taught at Ford and Harrison. With that said, I'd rather deal with a "Joe Friday" wannabe DO than a Fed if I happen to ding one!

Quick question...over at Brown when we call in fatigue we are not supposed to be contacted till we have been in rest...is that true at Purple as well?

Think the poster talking of two distinct processes.

CRS passes the buck to the DO in many circumstances. In the occasions where CRS has wanted me to operate additional legs, and the answer's been I don't think so-they have transferred the phone call over to the DO.
As always, some DOs better than others, but the bottom line is that no one can force you to operate a trip you don't feel safe to do so.

Once the DO resolves the situation, canx's the extra legs or sends you off to the hotel, eventually another process begins and try's to figure out if there were any underlying issues that could have been prevented.

There are people who view that as pilot pushing. On the two occasions where I've said NO to CRS BS plans, I've never received any follow up questioning

Section 12.A.9. We now fill out a fatigue report with in 72 hours. The fatigue working group can decide to contact you. They are also responsible for deciding if your sick account charge gets reversed.

So as I understand it, initial call to CRS, hand off to duty officer, bed time.

Any subsequent questions concerning my fatigue can wait until I submit my report (which I believe goes to the union). I will be happy to talk to CRS or the duty officer about how I get back on my trip or home, but not about the actual fatigue call following his (and my) decision to amend my trip.
