Every FDX Flight in to MEM lands by 1230 AM and PM and departs between 1:30 and 4:30 AM and PM 6 days a week. So a commuter usually has a chance to end a trip in MEM and be home 4 to 6 hours later.

If you have 33 years left, you want to be at FDX. Next month I work a 7 day trip and an 8 day trip on a domestic schedule. It is a 35 day month and I think the pay hits the average pay for the month of 94 hours. At least 19 days off 15 nights away from home. And I have the opportunity to watch 6 baseball games at 4 ballparks with beer and be legal. This company the difference between a junior schedule and a senior schedule is much more dramatic then anywhere else.
That said who knows what the world will look like in 33 years. Life is a gamble.

I'm not sure how much I would like 7 and 8 day trips to be honest. 4 day trips at Southwest are too long as it is. Last month I credited 137 hours and only spent 8 nights not in my own bed. That was me picking up a bunch of day trips out of TPA that had me home in time for dinner. That's why I question is the pay and retirement worth giving up that QOL?

137 SWA trips is approx 120 hours, right?

16 days of work, 8 nights in a hotel, but a lot of the days were just single leg days out of TPA that I was able to fly and then Jumpseat home in time for dinner.
I essentially flew 4 three-day trips and 4 one-day turns out of TPA. And all of it was weekday flying except for one three-day.

I'm not exactly sure on the conversion, but yes 137 tfp's (trips for pay).
Standard 3 day trip pays between 19.5 and 23 tfp's for a point of reference. However, twice last month I made 14 trips flying one leg out of TPA and jumpseating home.

There's a big difference in doing that much back and forth, in and out of family life at home when you're day flying versus night/international. I can't speak for everyone, but I know my home life would be very difficult if I tried to swap night flying to normal life schedule more than a couple times in a month - never mind multiple times in the same week.
I trade regular dinners at home for a part of the month and multiple commutes for two solid weeks at home every month or maybe a week on/week off schedule. Only you know what will work best for you and your family.
