Still waiting to hear why the hell the HEPA filters have been removed.

I mean, I signed up for night flying and circadian rhythm disruption, proximity to hazmat, pressurization cycles, radiation, etc... I did NOT sign up for, or agree to (nor did my family who expects me to be around long after retirement), flying in aircraft where air filtration has been removed and exposure to fiberglass-like material, pirolized chemicals, and known neurotoxins is even greater than in filtered environments. My wife rarely curses, but I heard all of the nasty words she knows immediately after she read the ESC's newsletter. This is absolutely and completely UNSAT.

As pipe said: captains, please write up each and every fume event, unsat lav, unsat O2 mask, etc...

For what might come across as constant complaining from me on this board I need to clarify that I absolutely love my job and the company I fly for, truly do. I consider myself a union guy and at the same time also a company guy (blasphemy to some), but the ESC's information, and the lack of response via FCIF or email from upper management is beyond disappointing. It is UNSAT.

I'd like to keep the faith in our stated goals of employees and safety first, but I feel that would require me keeping my head buried deep in the sand. Where are the actions? They are in direct opposition to all of our safety first slogans.

What floored me the most is that OSHA has no jurisdiction forward of the cockpit door. *** is that all about? How did that come about?

Can you imagine the stickers plastered all over the cockpit if they had jurisdiction? "Caution positioning the yoke to far forward or to far aft will result in the aircraft unintentionally striking the ground with potential catastrophic consequences."

But to answer your questions, $$$$$$.

The FAA has jurisdiction. https://www.osha.gov/pls/oshaweb/owa...e=MOU&p_id=283

Do you think that saying "6 years ago and for 12 years previous to that, I flew an airplane that smelled like nasty socks every flight and we all thought it was normal" would be useful?

and I am not being snarky, this is an honest question. (I feel that it's important to be clear about what I am trying to convey as I have seen how satire doesn't often translate well in forums like this.)

They would just reply: "You knew it was a DC-9 when you bid it."

No, but I think saying, "I've just learned about a report released by ALPA detailing hazardous and toxic conditions in my place of work..." goes over better.

I'm not saying it'll get fixed, but sitting around and saying nothing about it is pathetic.
