BTW I sold my July vacation back but am only working a couple of easy trips next month. This will allow me to use my August vacation to dump the month and still get a very nice 15 Aug paycheck to blow while doing so. In a perfect world selling back vacation, like Carry over, would not be permissible, but it is one of Fedex and ALPAs extra bonuses for staying senior in your seat.

Almost - you won't be conflicting with vacation in August, rather you'll be conflicting with the carry-in trip's (into August) ghost footprint.
The way I remember it working is that once you slide to the right to knock out the carryover trip into August, the red vacation line will only move 5 days to the right, it won't move to cover the entire carryover trip. When bidding for August, just remember the original footprint of the c/o trip, since it's 'ghost' footprint will be what allows you to conflict trips in early August - even though you won't even see the trip's footprint. Works like a champ.
I'm with you USMCFDX - I don't get how anyone can sell back summer vacation slots. Also, retiring from the company with a full sick bank, to get 50% of it back, well, to each their own... (as long as one is hopefully not sneezing and coughing all over the other crewmembers to protect the sick bank for the SLB).

Thanks for all the responses. Appreciate it. But, I'm still a bit confused...so with the carryover RED vacation footprint...it's treated like a trip? If I bid a conflicting trip for AUG, it's not compensated with vacation, but treated as conflict and I will have to make it up?

I just had this question for July carryover so I called “futures” and got the answer from the horses mouth. Maxkts is correct.
If your carryover trip conflicts with the new month’s bid awarded trip. its carryover conflict, edible for the makeup window, etc....end of story.
If your vacation footprint (that is not part of the carryover trip) touches a trip, it is knocked out by vacation and the hours will be deducted from your vacation bank. If you exceed your vacation bank, you will go negative and can do vacation makeup (if you want) or just take the less hours in 2017.
One more thing to think about. As an example, I slide my 8 day July vacation 1 day into June and proceeded to expand (knock out) 40+ hours in June. I still had 24 hours in my vacation bank, so I thought I could expand in July to knock out those 24 hours.....WRONG! Each vacation period is a separate event so I could only expand the remaining hours from my 8 day vacation award(about 6 hours)......so I bid to touch a 30+ hour trip and went negative in my 2016 vacation bank.
Clear as mud, right?
