This, without a doubt is the best post since the AIP/TA was announced.

Are you saying that pre-Medicare retirees will pay "about the same" as working pilots?

My wife is covered by the Buy Up Plan, Dental, Vision. I pay $641 a month this year. I recall it was $440.00 when I retired three years ago.

Thanks for supplying your numbers. And you also have the $25,000 HRA to help defray rising costs. The rest of us Retiree wannabes, not so much.

Nope, i did not mean to imply that. It certainly depends is the answer. There are a lot of options, and a lot of situations, and lots of different prices. Me I'm going with some sort of CDHP.

Well, you said, "Tell me what your plan is and I'll figure your costs for a fee."

Buy up plan with a spouse.

Your plan will cost about 18000 bucks. The company will pay about $9600, you will owe the rest. Buy me a year of bidx and we will call it even. When the Pelosi tax kicks in you will owe a lot more. Get a High Deductable plan and use that $9600 to pay expenses. I slept in a Holiday Inn Express once.

So, a retiree's healthcare premiums are going to be lower under the TA.

Beats me but the TA says they will contribute 4800 bucks for you and 4800 for the Mrs. and the MEC say the buy up plan cost about $18000, but we won't know until DOS.

Something smells very rotten here.

The buy-up plan for a retiree and spouse in 2015 cost the retiree $13,728/yr($1144/mo). Those numbers are from the ALPA retirement seminar.

If your numbers are even remotely close, meaning the premiums will actually be 38% lower under the TA...I would think the NC would have a dozen or so slides showing how they negotiated a major decrease in rates for retirees. Don't you?

The numbers just don't add up.
