I guess you probably do not ever Bid "Senior" VTO's for a full regular month of flying?

I told DT that I wanted to grieve it. BTW, I filed one and it was later denied stating the usual. "We probably won't win and it would set a bad precident."

I'm just so sorry we never go to see the Company proposed "PiBS".

Can you sense the extreme sarcasm.

the union can't "deny" your grievance, only the Company can do that. I am guessing ALPA just strong armed you into agreeing to pull it? And yes, I got your sarcasm! If ALPA does not want to make your case for you then you go to a grievance review board, if that had happened to me I would have grieved it and yes I have held senior secondary lines in a few seats, not often though as I typically bid lines. Who cares about bad precedence if that is what is going on anyway is my view.

We do not have a "that works better for junior, so tough luck" system. My experience has always been pilots get what they ask for (specific trips) if its legal and open. Sorry that happened to you because that is unsat.

Either way it highlights the exact problem that is trying to be fixed, a system that we directly weight our preferences and ensure that the PBS system used is NOT one that violates seniority as happened to you.
Redeye's story is exactly what I had happen to me. I had the #1 VTO, requested 2 week long DDH trips and got one of them. The rest of my line was garbage. And, a junior VTO holder got my trip. When I called, CRS researched it and said my request was within the parameters and legal...But, "It was just a REQUEST." That's a verbatim quote.

I have no problem with the secondary system being fixed. But, the introduction of actual PBS and the growth of our VTO lines, by adding 20% of the reserve days, is a pretty big deal.

Based on what our current MEC and NC has brought to us with this TA...I'm strongly questioning their judgement. I certainly don't want to leave it up to them. I'd rather have a vote.

Go check your facts again.

You are correct, that ALPA can't Deny me the Filing of the grievance. They can, however, Deny going forward with it, which that is exactly what they did. It wasn't the first time either.

I wasn't strong armed, just denied. Not sure why as you can count the Contractual (Administrative) Grievances we have at any one time on just One hand? Compare that to United or Delta.

I agree with your "Bad Precedence" point. if the Company is already doing it, it already has set a Bad precedence. What do we have to lose again?

This is one area where both the FPA and ALPA have been weak. We have been negligent in defending the Contract(s) we are and have been working under.

So consider this, perhaps your good experiences with VTO's going just like they should, are because you typically bid lines. You don't bid VTO's very often, so therefore, you are not often exposed to the ugliness that other people are.

Next time this happens to me (which I'm sure will be soon), I'll be happy to update exactly what has happened, step by step. Kind of sad that we have to learn this on our own, and that the union is not really providing guidance or support.

My 26 Aug trip has been revised to include the new TA catering parameters. Maybe the company has already counted the votes.

26 August, so they revised your trip in arrears? I wonder if it would have been good. Nah....
