Cloud: Exactly. That sentence is missing for a reason. The reason is: it allows the #1VTO to have un-requested rdays. I'm not saying it's probably going to happen. But, it can happen, if the "system" needs it to. That system could be the newfangled software. Or, in the absence of that software (we never agree to it) it defaults to the current POS. Either way, it opens the door to spread the rdays higher into the list if need be.

Does anyone ultimately doubt that the company would prefer us to just all show up each night and be told where we're going? Of course they want the highest number of us on reserve. Heck, PBS is just reserve with a really long call-out.

This was the main reason I voted against the TA. Number 1 VTO guy gets a 56 hour trip and only needs 9 more hours to hit the low end of the BLG range allowed. No trips that will fit with the needed number of hours without exceeding the max BLG. Boom, there's a nice block of 2 R days for you to hit the min BLG, and good luck dropping them! Don't even think about calling in sick because you will need a note from the doctor explaining why you are too well to commute in for a "block" of R day(s).

Pilots above the G line can bid reserve voluntarily which obviously forces someone below it in the trip world. I just do not see how senior secondary lines will EVER get reserve unless preferences for receiving them are inputted.

I personally trust that it is our best interest and the Company's to have a better product, not worse and as such we will have ALPA pilots involved and if this TA passes I am sure you will see a preference that says trips (any) over R days that will score your days off etc. below the desire to not have r days at any cost. Putting US in front of the computer is a big step in allowing pilots to have many many more inputs than we have in today's ridiculous line by line text inputs. Good discussions here, I hope I am not on here in 6 months eating crow about those involuntary reserve blocks everyone is getting on the top end but I will eat it! Better go work on my bid.
Actually, very easily. Use the LAX guy with the 60 CH first choice request example used earlier. with the new TA he will now get the 60 CH trip (WIN), but he will also get 2 R days to bring him to the 68 CH level. Since there was not another trip to pair onto his line they just add R days to get to RLG. With the new 20% of R days that are in the VTO build prior to the conflict window, there will be plenty of R days to smooth out the VTO schedules. Those 20% of R days that start in the VTO build instead of as R day lines, will result in additional VTO lines.

For those suggesting I read the TA regarding CD having final say, suggest you go to page 599 or simply trust the following clipping

E. Final Acceptance and Transition The MEC Chairman and the Vice President of Flight Operations must meet and agree on the final acceptance of the SLR prior to its implementation. In the absence of agreement, the SLR shall not be implemented.

For those with the LAX example, are there any 60 hour trips currently? And if you get a 60 hour trip, why wouldn't two (or more depending on the VTO BLG target) 6 CH trips be available? But even if the trips are available, wouldn't it be nice to sign up for 3 or 4 R days with 60+CHs of leveling in hopes of not getting launched.

kronan, then carefully read page 598, and what it says about the actual implementation. THAT is the final step, and we have no say, only a meeting with the SVP of Flt Ops, who makes the determination going forward with implementation.

Even for the step before implementation, it is just the MEC voting, not all 4,200 of us.

Brad Mahoney's letter rings very true: RATIFICATION WITHOUT NEGOTIATION. A bad precedent to set.

That's the point. TA should state that it is the PILOT's option...Not the COMPANY's.

The concessionary language in this TA is staggering. How could the NC even consider such nonsense?

I don't have the answer. And neither do they. You don't win points by participation. You win with results. I'm disgusted and embarrassed that we might very well have to do our jobs for the next 6 years and beyond based on the language in this TA. How can language be removed that protects us? The final default is with the company? Shaking my head again and again ...

Just remember, you paid for this. Or should it be: we paid for this?
