I would propose what is on other properties already, with a sliding scale. A sliding scale, from 18 month notification of retirement to 6 month notification, you get 50% of your DSA sliding to 25%, WITHOUT encouraging the banking of RSA, and without discouraging the use of VAC.

This TA will encourage more people approaching retirement, to fly sick, that is clear.

What I would propose goes counter to what The Company would propose. The Nogotiating Committee has not been shy in admitting the SLB is designed to keep pilots flying. I want to ease their transition to retirement.

What I propose is simple. Raise the FAE cap to twice the IRS Benefit limit, and index it to that from here out. Instead of a 1-time lump sum that they have to break their backs for, they enjoy a lifetime of retirement benefits, benefits they have already broken their backs for.

And one important difference between this and the 2015 TA -- pilot gets to pick the retirement date. It doesn't have to be Dec 31 or his 65th birth month. If he wants to retire when he's 62 in October (birthday in any other month), that should work, too.

Here's my question: Where will we go to get money for contract 2023 if we use the sick leave to pay for this contract?

Delta pilots are allowed to use theirs without repercussion every year. I'd much rather have that than what we're trying to sign up for (or what we have now).

I am not sure that is correct. I think Delta does have to provide a note now if they exceed some many days in a year.

Would you shoplift a $0.99 Hershey bar?

How about a $10,000 Rolex?

As a group we are suffering a bit of cognitive dissonance on the subject of sick bank and retirement. Recall that for years prior to the TA a common crew lounge discussion citing the unfairness that your sick bank disappeared at retirement. Many of our group went on to pontificate that we should be compensated some portion of that bank at retirement... That was an argument I heard many of us make during the years prior to the TA, now just the reverse...
