Not at all what I am pointing out and you know it. Sick leave in the Dis Bank has already been earned. Whats next from your group charging us to access or B Fund when we retire?

I don't know any such thing. I consider my sick/DSA more like insurance to be used as needed. When the Company and Union priced this insurance it was term insurance. You want it to be a whole life insurance policy. What the company and Union have come up with is similar to a variable life insurance policy.

I've heard, but have no first hand knowledge that the company wanted something similar to this (partial payout of DSA) the past two contracts. But, the union said no to it because it would encourage pilots to fly sick.

Does anyone know any legitimate details to this apocryphal story or is it just the crew bus driver talking?

I can see that, although I really don't see much difference between this and current policy of cash over cap excess sick payout.

The difference would be if you use sick leave now, you are paid for your trip. Nothing gained, nothing lost.

With the TA, if you use sick leave during your final 2 years, you still get paid for your trip...But, the sick pay amount is deducted from your final earnings, for end of career bonus consideration. In essence, you are costing yourself money by using sick leave. That will encourage guys even more not to call in sick.

Hmmmm...

True but if you have already maxed out your DSA and are eligible for excess sick payout then the same thing happens.

My point was everyone is complaining because the TA encourages flying sick. So does the current contract. And trust me if you want to here real whining, try taking excess sick leave buy back away.

The same thing does not happen. The current system of DSA overage payout does encourage not using sick leave. But, the TA takes the encouragement one step further. Because a pilot's use of sick leave will be deducted from their final 2 yrs income, for bonus calculations.
