First that I've seen that it's a 6 year agreement.
From Air Transport World, today: FedEx Express | pilot tentative agreement | Labor content from ATWOnline
FedEx Express pilots have reached a tentative agreement with FedEx Corp. management on a new labor contract that would extend to 2021.
The Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA), which represents FedEx’s 4,000 pilots, said the tentative accord was reached under National Mediation Board (NMB) guidance and must still be approved by the FedEx ALPA Master Executive Council (MEC) and ratified by rank-and-file FedEx pilots.
ALPA and FedEx have been negotiating the terms of a new contract since 2011. FedEx ALPA MEC chairman Chuck Dyer said in a statement, “The process has not always been easy, but our pilots and their families remained steadfast in their support of our negotiating committee. The MEC has a rigorous process when it comes to evaluating these types of agreements, and we look forward to fully vetting this tentative agreement.”
Terms of the tentative agreement have not been released. FedEx said in a statement that the tentative agreement “contains great value for our pilots.”

The union representing FedEx Corp. FDX -2.73 % pilots said Thursday that it had reached a collective-bargaining agreement with the delivery giant.

The Air Line Pilots Association International said the tentative agreement, which would last through 2021, must still be approved by the union’s executive council. It would then be put to a vote for ratification by more than 4,000 FedEx pilots.
Terms of the agreement aren’t being released, the union said. Negotiations on the pact started in 2011, with formal bargaining beginning in January 2013. The two sides entered a mediation process after FedEx filed with the National Mediation Board last October.
FedEx confirmed the parties had reached an agreement.
“We are grateful to both negotiating committees who worked so hard to reach this agreement, which contains great value for our pilots and FedEx Express,” a FedEx spokesman said in a statement.

United Parcel Service Inc. has also been in federal mediation with its pilots since early 2014. Its pilot union, the Independent Pilots Association, on Thursday called for reaching an agreement quickly after four years of contract talks.

I'm curious to know why, after he went through such torturous contortions to NOT tell us we have a TA, but we might have one after next Wednesday's Special MEC Meeting, did our MEC Chairman tell the media we have a Tentative Agreement. NOW, I'm confused.

First ... thanks very much to the Negotiating Committee and the MEC for the REALLY hard work! It's disappointing that it's been this much work and taken this long!*? I thought our last MEC sold us on the FDA LOA's with the concept that it would SHORTEN negotiations? Maybe I was confused?
Does that really mean that it's an 8 year agreement (2 years after amendable date to negotiate another TA plus the last 2 years). Maybe that means 10 year agreement?
It would be nice if the NC was able to negotiate for automatic COL increases every year until we have another TA. It'll be interesting to read!*?

It would appear that Greatplains "TA or not a TA, that is the question" thread was a little more accurate than most gave him credit for.

Technically, the company and the negotiating committee have negotiated and agreed to all sections of the contract. It is not a TA until it is put all together and ready for signatures and voted on by the MEC.

No need for that foolishness Tony, we can just hire off the street and pump out a new 75/76 FO in….ah…um….apparently 6-8 months. (Never mind….)
Many of this board went to the RAG, became a Navy fighter pilot, and got CQ'd in less time than that. Our F-15 syllabus ran just a bit under 6 months on the AF side of things. I think C-17 school is less than 6 months for a new guy as well.
We need sims, instructors, leadership…and a lot more than just a contract to fix all of this. I hope we get all of it.
