Whereas, we are just pilots,
Whereas, very few of us have taken any law classes,
Whereas, we don't understand a single thing that was just written by the MEC,
Whereas, we are just trying to figure if we have a tentative agreement,
Therefore, be it resolved, the rest of the FedEx pilots want a clarification of the last MEC message.

Hilarious! Maybe they will understand that. Or perhaps it isn't verbose enough, and they need a few more resolutions to comprehend the request for clarity.

OK, just talked with CD, and he said I could summarize our conversation and post it here.

He said that we have a tentative agreement, but they are finalizing the contract language before they can present it to the MEC for a vote to decide if it will be forwarded to the membership. He said he was calling the MEC back to meet next Wednesday for that vote, and that after said vote we would get the details. He said there was something in the rules that prevented details from being leaked prior to the approval of the final TA language by the MEC.

So bottom line: a TA has been agreed to in principle, but the language still needs work, and they anticipated presenting the TA to the MEC next Wednesday, after which we will get to know what it says.

I must say that CD was very generous with his time and explanation. He said his memo was written by lawyers, and he understood my confusion.

"Over the next few days, I will be consulting with your MEC leadership to refine the path forward. We want you to know there are difficult decisions to be made and we are meeting Wednesday to discuss the way forward."

After nine hours of discussion, and a nice lunch break at Wild Wings, the results of the very difficult decisions: we consulted with our lawyers and this is what they told us to say,

"Whereas, the MEC has received a full briefing concerning a mediation framework designed to lead to a tentative agreement,

Whereas, the MEC has fully considered the merits of turning the mediation framework into a tentative agreement,

Whereas, the MEC believes that the mediation framework represents an agreement in principle,

Therefore be it resolved that the MEC instructs the Negotiating Committee to complete language related to the mediation framework so that the MEC may review it as a tentative agreement."

"We don't understand either, but that's what the lawyers told us to put out to the crew force. We will be meeting next week in Executive Session to figure out what the &*^$ this all means." Until then, Fly Safe!

It means that we have a TA.

My concern is will we get to see the language regardless of the MEC vote?

If "hard decisions" need to be made, logic dictates that we didn't get everything we wanted, although that is true of any collectively bargained agreement.

I have said in previous TA's that I would decide whether to vote for or against the agreement based on its language and content. I hope that everyone does the same and makes their ultimate decision on what's best for them and their family, either up or down.

Finally, I hope if the MEC does recommend it to the membership, that they treat it like Fox News - We report, You decide (unlike DAL).

Please tell me you're confusing your terms...otherwise you probably shouldn't even vote on the TA...

"On Friday, October 31st, management announced that it was applying for mediation with the National Mediation Board, squandering an opportunity to be an industry leader."

You'll see it. If the MEC votes no the company will be more than happy to tell you (and all of the other employees) how generous they are and how greedy we are.

Surely you jest, "faux news", half truths, misinformation, and 30+% falsehoods!

I'm hoping the NC, MEC, ALPA lawyers, AND committees (especially grievance) conduct a thorough review and analysis by SME's across all the subject domains, to include "language" subject to interpretation, prior to them "reporting" or touring a TA road show.
