FedEx Hiring
#662
I think some recent successes came from Atlas and Omni, and I know some professional instructors at other airlines are also being interviewed.
I don't think we are poaching from the legacies right now.
This is a great place to work...for the right person. Most folks hired before about 2005 progressed through MEM, or maybe ANC. It appears the first seat and first upgrade for many hired after about 2002-2004 will likely be Cologne or Hong Kong. Delta is hiring as many in a month as we will the rest of the year. Its not "bad" here, but its different than it used to be. For some guys and gals, that appears to be exactly what they want. Progression won't be fast, but at 100-150 a year tolerable...if you are ready for some serious hub turning on reserve or an FDA.

What defines a long time--3 years? 10 years? (as a FO, I know upgrade would never happen that quickly) Why is it harder to bid back out than it would be if you were bidding out of Memphis? Honest questions, FedEx is high on my list of places I'd like to work if I were given the opportunity.

Does that mean there has to be a Vacancy Bid (with openings that you are senior enough to hold) after you've been there 2 years?
Could 2 years really mean 3, 4 or 5 years? If I remember correctly you CAN'T stay in CGN more than 5 years (even if you want to) because it forces FedEx to pay German income taxes?
I'm not saying that FDA's are a bad deal, quite the contrary ... I think it could be fun for a couple or young family. I think it's a GREAT opportunity to get a job with FedEx.
Just make sure that you understand the conditions you are agreeing to when you accept a Foreign Domicile Assignment (FDA).
