Can someone elaborate on the difference between listing a FedEx pilot as a reference on pilotcredentials.com, and having an official "sponsor" from a FedEx pilot? My internal contact has agreed to be listed as a reference for my app, however did not mention anything further than that.

I am assuming that the latter would greatly increase the chances of receiving an interview invite.

Also, is it required that you flew with your sponsor or reference? While I am sure it carries more weight, in my case a close friend from the Navy works there, but we never flew in the same aircraft.

Not sure if this has been addressed recently. How long would it take for a new hire to hold LAX at the moment.

You can list references on pilotcredentials. For a pilot to give you a recommendation or list themselves as your sponsor, they need to log into pilotcredentials and fill out some forms on your behalf and they distinguish between a LOR or primary endorsement (sponsor).

I don't think LORs or sponsor help get an interview, you'll need to beat the mysterious matrix. Once you're past the matrix and you have an interview, that's when the internal LORs and/or sponsor come into play.

Too funny. All the KC-10 guys are at Delta. It was literally like a flow from AD kc10s to delta

I heard this from a good source. FDX needs pilots now.

Does anybody know if the weight of the aircraft you fly gets weighted as far as the points go on the application? Thanks

Highly unlikely that base seems to be shrinking.

Just for some perspective. I've been here over 10.5 years and can barely hold LAX MD-11 FO. I could be a MEM 757 Captain with some seniority.

I've heard they are short in LAX on the FO side. LAX has always been a senior base.

On a side note, prior to the Great Recession, I do know guys held it with 2 years seniority. I wouldn't count on it, but anything is possible.
