FedEx Hiring
#1191
My background is military transports (C-141 & C-17), plus MD-11 freight and 737 charter. 7000+ total and 3000+ PIC, all multi turbine. One internal reference, but not a "sponsor."

Hence, the need for an in house ATP-CTP program and ATP MEL written exam prior to commencing Part 121 training. Why would the website be very specific in listing these exact requirements unless 1. They offer an ATP-CTP course with ATP MEL written exam or 2. They are ignorant of the current FARs... which I doubt! When it comes to 121 hiring, not all ATP's are equal!

Any easy fix: Kim just doesn't call anyone without a multi-ATP. I got a PM on another board from a guy who said he heard we were going to start hiring regional FOs since we could not get guys hired over the Hong Kong. I explained the Nov class for Hong Kong inbounds was full, and we had guys leaving American, Jetblue, Atlas, and SWA to come here. The new contract, while not universally adored by the current FedEx pilots, offers a solid raise and 6 years of labor stability for those who want to come here. I do not thing FedEx is going to have any problem filling vacancies, even in the FDAs. The cracks in the dike with regard to a pilot shortage will appear at Frontier, Jetblue, and even Southwest before we have trouble filling classes here. The guys that seem to get the call now are guys with (stop me if you have heard this...) KC-10, MD-11, or overwater international glass experience. Other mere mortals are getting called, but with our training pipeline issues some new hires are going to the -11 and 777. 767 experience is also getting noticed. As you don't fly nearly as much block here as at some pax carriers, the expression is "you have to bring your A game..." FedEx isn't looking to train guys or season them, they are looking for plug and play future captains that will be safe and solid even if they fly 30-40 hours or less a month and struggle to keep 3/3 currency (an issue on long haul flights). What is on the website is one thing....I can tell you who they are calling. They are not calling helo ATPs with 2000 SIC team at the regionals. They are calling military IP/EP types and civilian pilots with large jet experience. Ex -World, Ryan, Atlas, and other places seem to be providing us a good stream of talent right now.

FedEx is not hiring you to fly a SE plane.
If those dots are too hard for you to connect, you need to find some place else to work.

I don't make the minimum qualifications! It clearly says an ATP certificate with a commercial multi instrument". What dots are there to connect? Yes, this implies they will train you to an ATP MEL just as many other airlines are presently doing but apparently Albief has insider information of what they really want! Thanks!
