I was invited to work on the SIG at one point. It's a pretty sweet gig, as far as how you calendar looks compared to flying the line all month. If you can stand being in Memphis that much and that often (which I can't) then yeah, great gig.
But yeah, not saying those guys don't work, because they do - but their schedules month in and month out, are much much better than any line pilot in their corresponding seniority range.
Please JustIn, and your like-minded troll friend HelpABrotherOut, don't whine and complain about someone booted from the SIG, who needs to fly the line again full time and regain perspective.
We need a fresh set of bloodshot eyes on that.

Which aircraft are you bidding on that makes it difficult to get a line with weekends off at 20% Just looked at the bid award for my aircraft, and there were about 50 lines that had every weekend off that went to pilots in the bottom 80%.
How do you know that pilots haven't emailed complaining about the number of commutes? While there hasn't been a specific SIG survey, there have been questions in the surveys about line construction and commuting.

Nobody cares if the SIG is quick to respond to questions. They're also quick to roll over, hand the company what they want, and make you fly it. There have been zero improvements in our QOL the entire time I have worked here. Fly it first, grieve it later. That always ends up in our favor right? They are supposed to be our advocate and not a company apologist. You think these guys are going to help bring us an industry leading contract with any improvements? How did TA 1.0 work out for us with this SIG? And how many ended up as duty officers?
"We need data to prove that flying multiple legs starting at 2am is causing pilot fatigue. Without those reports we cannot change anything." What a joke. With advocates like these guys, who needs a union in the first place.
WAKE UP PEOPLE.

My two posts have been full of examples. The sunrise sort made the company plenty of money and it was horrendous. Plenty of sequences remain awful.
If you are unaware of the duty officers that have come from the SIG, you are not paying attention. I am not putting names here. We don't need management deals originating from being excessively cooperative on scheduling.

as far as DOs - we have the best DOs today that we’ve had in the last 20 years - if they came from the SIG then I hope they keep producing those.

OK "TUCK"
Save some sunrise sort lines for my friends and me when you and your Block 1 and 2 buddies bid. I keep missing them by a few numbers. LOL

Just arrived at an outstation ramp. Can’t sign the release. We have a minor maintenance issue, but they fired the company mechanics. And outsourced to the Mx contractor the regionals use, the mechanic is at home a two hour drive away. We’ll see how it goes. I’m just trying to figure out ways that I can help the company.

Of course, I haven’t started the apu. But I did demand my fo go back and put a diaper on my water. I’m going to demand another properly diapered water bottle soon. But I am wracking my brain trying to figure out how I can help the company.

I’m also curious why these young whisper snappers aren’t okay with us reaching into their pockets. That’s how it’s always been done here. Who do they think they are? Still trying to figure out how I can help the company.
