Full retro is the only way to reduce management's tactic of purposely dragging out negotiations past the amendable date. It is the primary reason they do it, because they know they will save more money the longer they drag it out.
They got a signing bonus.

1.5% of pilot's 2020 year earnings, 5.6% of pilot's 2021 year earnings, and 14% of pilot's 2022 year earnings.

Nothing for 2023. Actual raise at signing 29.5%.

OK, but it was based on a pilot's actual earnings, correct? Yes, they called it a "signing bonus", but it was based on earnings and calculated as a percentage.

That's what we need at FedEx, instead of 25 cents on the dollar.

I agree, they should have gotten something for 2023.

That basically is cents on the dollar if you took the 29% and spread it equally over those years as retro. Retro pay compounds and is pensionable. Signing bonuses do neither. Retro also pays pilots who retired, were terminated or resigned for the time period they worked. It also increases FAE for disability calculations.

Perhaps, but it's still a hell of lot better than the $19950 I was offered in TA2023 when buddies of mine at SWA with the same longevity as me got over 5 times that.

That signing bonus was based on 38 months past the ammendable date. Their ammendable date was November 2020, and ours was November 2021. So, using the same period of time, we would ratify a new contract in January 2025.

Let's use our current WB Captain rate of $335 and say that they earned $340,000. Using the same formula that SWA used, and taking the same amount of time, our WB Captain signing bonus would be $340,000*0.211 or $71740. Would you be ok with that?

So, your buddies were making over $470,000 a year in 2020, 2021 and 2022? That's what it would take for them to make over 5 times the number you posted. I think there are a lot of fish tales going around and many are believing them. While there are big fish out there, not every single person is catching them.

Some of y'all just flat out to refuse to believe that our friends at legacies can tweak their schedules, pick up premium, etc. in such a way they can rake-in such an incredibly large W2. But we get it, there is NO such thing as a higher paid pilot than a fEdEx WiDeBoDy captain ... oh the humanity!!
Can just ask around and maybe they'll show you their pay stubs, or at least how they do it. Everyone knows we have our own purple captain that likes to show off pay stubs on instagram.

Perhaps not everyone did that well but I can tell you for sure that no one at FedEx would have gotten that much, not even a 40yr wide body captain flying 200CH a month. What the TA1 NC agreed to was a joke.

I didn't say that. We too can tweak our schedules and pick up premium in such a way to rake in large W2's. So, you think that every pilot at SWA makes $470,000 a year? Do you think there was a lot of premium flying at SWA in 2020 and 2021? What you seem to want to advance as standard isn't as standard as you think.

I agree that the APRP was insufficient. However, saying that SWA got a lot better than us isn't exactly accurate either. Using a WB captain at Fedex that made $340,000 a year for the 38 months that covered the SWA APRP, that pilot would get a "signing bonus" of $71,740. Using that same 38 month period from the ammendable date, the signing bonus from TA1, and the pay rate increases in TA1 at min BLG, the difference in pay over that same 38 month period would be $101,000.

To hell with all this "bonus" and retro stuff. Let's put an accurate number on it and fold it into more pay and retirement. I'm really not interested in giving the federal government a giant bonus check.
