Agreed. It will be at least 7 months of no negotiations before we start again. Read the tea leaves.

The tea leaves are indicitive that PM and the former MEC did not have the support, will, or desires of the pilot group first and foremost at the table. The NMB realized that and gave the new group time to evaluate and prepare for the resumption of negotiations. Pretty simple.

Blind faith is what got us TA1. Why the reluctance to hold this MEC's feet to the fire.

At the end of December, there was a strategy called the path forward. 10 of the current 14 reps voted on that strategy. 8 of those 10 voted in favor of that strategy. That strategy had a plan to train a replacement negotiating committee while continuing negotiations under the strict guidance of the MEC. The MEC had to approve all proposals and had to approve anything that was agreed to. In March, the MEC put out a message to each LEC stating that asking for release didn't mean that we couldn't resume negotiations in a short period of time. There was no mention of a required status meeting. No mention of having to wait until Fall to resume negotiations. So, was waiting until the Fall to resume negotiations in the plan? Was the NMB saying that we are too busy for you in the plan?

We will get what we accept. No TA would be ratifiable with a draconian back pay freeze from release date. The biggest problem is the delay timing and how this probably sets up the company to delay through another peak then slow roll again in Jan.

Thats what every airline in the last round of negotiations said. Not one achieved it and most settled for signing bonuses that were not even close to the lost wages. If you think management will feel any moral compunction to pay back wages listen to this!

Full retro is the only way to reduce management's tactic of purposely dragging out negotiations past the amendable date. It is the primary reason they do it, because they know they will save more money the longer they drag it out.

PD Southwest FA opportunity
The NMB exists to prevent disruption to the system, which is the primary tool in our illustrious tool box. Even if we achieve industry standard pay and full retro, it still saves the company money to hold onto it during the intervening years. It's a time honored tactic to delay us to break down our unitly. Just watch while we fall apart and eat each other alive. Ultimately we get what we put up with, from the union, the company, and the government.
Better contracts and back pay have been and will be acheived by the flight attendants. When they blow us out of the water, will we hear the same tired excueses about W2, career earnings, widebody, furlough, etc.? Will PD develop a preferential interview program to become an FA off the bottom and top of our list? Could be a fun retirement job to supplement the A plan and Walmart greeter, you can sling drinks at ****ed off people and remain socially active, and you don't have to stop flying or hold a medical. Fishing and beer is not enough, people.
