STOP POSTING ON APC!!! You really think it makes a difference what people post? Ok, I say we settle for no less than $500/hr for new hires and $1,000/hr for Captains. Now the company KNOWS where I stand. So reasonable ideas are supposed to be ruled out? If you haven't figured out this forum is a joke and a site for the angriest of the few, then you need a reality check.

El
btw UPS still has an A-plan and prbly will never give it up.
NEVER is correct. Can't believe there are posts supporting it's death. Better go buy a Econ 301 book and educate yourselfs. We are looking at 170K minimum payout and you guys are happy with $130k???? Wow. No wonder your union has no unified support.

The Pancake Man mentally weakened our crew to such an extent that we are ready to just give away our A Plan, to avoid the "headaches if its drag". Sounds like the Company with the USPS. Unbelievable. Weak. That would make us the first pilot group to ever do so, and the stupidest, by far.

We finally, Finally! got PM out, forget his plans of getting rid of our Pension.

We fight those who have minted $$$ off our backs and handsomely improved their Corporate pensions, not only to keep our A Plan, but to improve it.

Wasn't PM the guy that got us an improvement to the A plan? Oh that's some 4D Chess right there.......Damn you Pancake Man!

Company just saved $400M by getting rid of the USPS contract plus the extra capacity for Orange freight. Plus $5B stock buy back. Yeah I want a lot more than what pancake man was selling. A LOT MORE.

Along with the MEC Chair email. The climb is not steeper, breathe again!
Of course I already read them. The naïve comment about the USPS savings being enough to cover $70k in benefits for each pilot convinced me that we have very simple minded people in high places. As I said, revisit this on October 1st.

an improvement for some, and then the company gets to keep all the money in that pot to include the money from no longer funding it. great idea, sport. lets save the company billions so the execs and investors can get another vacation home.

If anyone thinks UPS bid this contract at a rate to loose money, they truly do not know UPS management at all. Especially when we are dumping some routes due to not meeting profitability standards. A lot of this volume will move on existing 2DA flights, new ones added with existing assets (no new capital expenditures required), very little risk for UPS, unlike Fedex which basically created a sort window, added assets years ago to meet demand for the USPS, and now stuck with extra lift and assets.

UPS has always been ruthless when it comes to operating margins, just as focused today.

The devil is always in the details, but I suspect this contract will be the smallest USPS air transportation agreement in many years, given the USPS commitment to reducing costs and moving 95% of their volume solely by ground transportation. FedEx was pretty transparent for a few years that they were not committed to extending it because of the low margins and heavy constraints it placed on the network. According to very reliable sources on the corporate side the demands FDX made during the negotiations were so lofty that there was never a realistic expectation USPS would agree to them. They were instructed to walk away if the deal wasn’t extremely lucrative for the business and a vast improvement over the existing agreement. Nevertheless, it’s a bold strategy given the volatility the entire industry has experienced over the last 2 years so we’ll see if it pays off for them…

I would hope that there’s a contingency plan in place before they let ~1.5 billion in yearly revenue get scooped up by a competitor, but I have so little faith in the “leadership” here these days. In fact, the radio silence from the C suite leads me to believe that they may have been completely caught off guard by whatever 11th hour developments occurred in their talks. Maybe there will be a leadership shakeup soon?!

Where does this number come from? I thought your retirement was $4,650 x YOS.

I’m assuming you’re UPS.
