you sure are one of the people who voted on yes on that TA our of fear and nothing else. P.S hiring is down COMPARED to 2022-23, but companies AA DL UA still hiring well over a 1000 pilots a month. UA hasn’t even hit their peak retirements yet for another 2 years, AA still has 800+ retirements a year for the next 3 and then 500+till 2035. And question to your brilliance, what do you think the movement at Fedex going to be for someone junior? The company is fat and over staffed, and based on what we’ve seen in that town hall circus their plan is essentially to get more business. Like wow! What a shocker! Your
plan is to go out there and get more cargo? Why UPS didn’t think about that, or DHL, or USPS! Lol its f$&$king sad and pathetic watching daddy’s boy speak like a toddler who lost his Ipad time. Any junior guy at this company should leave to any where else if they want a shot a QOL and movement instead of this stagnation that we live in at Fedex for past 2 years. Shoot we can’t even change airplanes like normal airlines if they do another “realignment bid” with the same rules as last time! So here is another positive to the other, seniority matter where atFedex it means nothing.

United has suspended hiring. American plans to hire 1300 TOTAL in 2024. Delta plans to hire about 1000 TOTAL in 2024. Not sure where you get your info but you probably ought to look for better sources.

Basic tenet of business in a mature market. Figure out ways to increase market share. Companies rarely shrink to profitability. The fixed costs and infrastructure of the previously larger operation puts them at a disadvantage before they even start down this road.

I agree with the spirit of what you’re saying, but I have also seen this industry change overnight. There are now many size advantages to most airlines that prevent a truly bad down-sizing event with the exception of something like Covid.

Downturns at airlines are rarely caused by a single event. It’s always multiple issues that pile up and get pushed over the edge by a larger one not seen. Look at Spirit Airlines: ULCC demand down and Pratt engine issues. They’re headed for ch 11 in the good times. If a real economic recession hits then they’re going ch 7. We haven’t even talked about oil futures yet.

This presents a real conundrum as being wrong is your area of expertise.

Hahaha. Nah wasn't me. Although I did find it weird when I joined the admin didn't have the auto mute and disable camera functions set. Former IT admin must've been canned on Q3 day.

But but! Didn't you hear RS say we have a newer fleet than UPS???!? I mean, WOW. Those newer planes of ours must mean they attract new business better than UPS.

^This. Downturns in the broad economy tend to hit the lower and lower middle class first, and guess who Spirit caters to? For those into trading, SPY closed it's 6th red candle in a row today. That hasn't happened since March 2020. Definitely, something to keep an eye on.

where did you get UA suspending hiring? They are pausing hiring from May1st till June 1st, then resuming with 2 classes a months. That’s straight out of the recruitment office last week when I interviewed.
