Wait, that sounds like a pretty good vote of confidence in the current MEC, and pretty blistering "vote with feet" regarding the last MEC. Any TA1 "yes" voter should realize at this point, that even taking the most generous assessment of TA1, both the previous MEC and NC were wasting precious time. This is to say nothing of pronouncements by the company that have been confusing, to say the least.

Honestly, Fedex pilots don't know if they should abandon all hope and get a regional job, or they will be part of a 7000 pilot seniority list, as the VP of Flight Operations has made both statements publicly since negotiations were on-going. All in good faith, I'm totally sure of it.

There is also a timing aspect. I know plenty of people who with benefit of hindsight, wish they would have left a year ago, but the realities of airline seniority system and bias towards conservativism kept plenty of people from doing what time has demonstrated to be the correct action.

Takes a few months to get a bite, interview, and get a class. I’d expect this to increase after losing the postal contract. And technically we have lost more than 100 according to SCP update.

The ones giving them a free pass is when we had leverage during covid and even now. Planes keep flying so you will keep crying. Open time picked up like a penny in an airport.

Always easy to put blame on everyone else. The others got good contracts because their management needed them and they put pressure on them. When our management needed us we caved in. From senior to junior.

From the posters here your only hope is to leave and go where you think the grass is greener. There is no hope for you here! TC, JG and JN are not your saviors. There is no support from the crew force. Only a lot of complainers on social media with out any balls to get us a good contract.
They got contracts because they got bailed out and cut too deep. Then COVID ended and demand came back. Without the bailout, they wouldn't have had the gains you see today.

Agee 100%, Everyone thinks the PAX CEO's and their great balance sheets are because they are awesome executives. When in reality they got a ton of free money to bail them out during COVID and they used a lot of it for purposes it was not intended. Instead of paying down a lot of dept with the money they are making now, they are giving it out to executives and employees.

They will have their hands out again when the economy eventually hits the skids. Not a matter of if, but when.

Yeah, the new MEC is going to fix crime in MEM, take over the board to get rid of DRIVE, buy new airplanes and start hiring. I guess I missed those items in the updates that say industry comparable pay, scope, retirement and targeted QOL improvements. Of those items, the only changes are scope, and industry comparable pay instead of industry leading pay.

Technically, he said 9 in the last 90 days, 23 so far in 2024 and 74 total in 2023. Not sure how that adds up to more than 100 unless you think that the 9 in 90 days weren't included in the 23 so far in 2024.

The "mass exodus" was predicted 14 months ago. Many from that thread are still here and still complaining, but not leaving.

So when do you start at UPS? I thought you were asking about people in the end of July class.

This is patently false. Billions of debt have been reduced. Per legacy carrier. And repayments are still ongoing.

I guess you’re right, that does make 97. And yes, you can count on that being 98 in the next few weeks. Point is, loss of postal will likely shave a few more off the list in the next few months.

Risk in staying, risk in leaving. Wish I had more information to make a more sound decision. All of the data withholding and recent actions like pulling the flight schedule off VIPS is quite ominous. I’ll be rooting for FDX and very well could be kicking myself when everything takes off here eventually.

For your clarity…

I left about 10 months ago for a big pax airline, after 6.5 years at FedEx. I had 3 others in class with me, and the next class the following week at 8 FedEx in it with many others sprinkled in and around that time in various classes. About half of us bid for and we’re awarded CA positions in EWR/ORD/DEN/SFO on the 737 or Airbus. We’re staring down at upgrade in about 2 months once we’re all off probation, and if there are any delays, we are paid at our CA ($348) rate at that one-year point or the effective date of our bid award. Your pay assumption checks, maybe a little more with all the various add pays that are apart of the new contract. Additionally, all the new reserve rules go into effect next month which will make it even more palatable— pure long call (18), pure short call (2.5) which will pay a 90 BLG to start. Our first time CA award comes with a paid move to our base, or 12 months of PS commuting passes.

In a later post, you said you hoped the grass was greener. Every place has its warts, but they are just different warts. Are there things I miss about FedEx… 100%. I spent a long time there and it’s definitely part of my DNA and it will be forever. I truly hope it remains successful, and you get a contract that makes us all wish we never left.

That being said, in a couple of months I’ll be able to move back home, drive to work, and fly in the left seat again (albeit, not my beloved 757), but it’ll be 90% during the daylight. I haven’t felt this normal in years. I enjoy interacting with human beings, so being back in the terminal has been quite pleasant. My new (former former?) company takes a lot of the stress out of managing situations outside of the flight deck so “dealing with pax and FA’s” hasn’t really been remotely an issue. Honestly, the biggest issue is setting up a bathroom break! 😂 And finally, it is refreshing being at an airline where upper management to the ramp really wants to operate a great company that delivers a great product. We aren’t perfect, nowhere is… but it works for me and makes giving up 6.5 years a little less gut-wrenching every day.

Finally for all the JF’rs types, I may have had some heated discussions with many of you. Even some personal jabs thrown in there. And for that, I truly do apologize. FDX drama/JF drama/TA drama really did get the best of me, and there are things that should have been left unsaid. I wish you all nothing but the best— but please don’t give up the ship.
