Any reason to stay at FedEx 40s or younger?

Call BS all you want because it is happening and it happened to me too. Captain wanted more fuel into Memphis due to enroute TS and dispatcher gave all kinds of push back. Finally, the Captain told the dispatcher that if he didn't the plane wouldn't move. Dispatcher acquiesced and we pressed on. The fact that you put the onus on the Captain with the parking brake is pretty weak brother. There is a conserted effort to cut costs here and no matter how much harrasment we get the onus, according to you, is on the Captain to not release the parking brake. There should be no push back if the addage is within reason. A blanket "no" is unacceptable Captain douche. Go back to the Air Force brother. Your way of thinking is f5cking stupid.
You trolled the SWA in the MAJORs forum with this posting today.
I think all of us could do a little better in putting our collective feet down and telling management "no, this is not a good idea". I wonder what IAN costs as an option from Boeing? I've flown the 73 with and without the option and it makes things a lot easier especially when you are tired and you haven't done a NPA in a long time. Our QRH now has a frickin 2 page briefing on how to do these approaches. It is absolutely ridiculous that we are out here doing these Rube Goldberg procedures to save a buck.

Holy smokes. I rarely hop back on FedEx APC after scouring it all day every day when I was considering leaving last summer. I swear when I left JF and logged out of APC my blood pressure went down and I slept 100x better.
I'm the type of person who believes that everything in life prepares you for the future and has a place in the person you are today. I loved the ANC guys I flew with and was sad to leave some sweet long haul flying behind. Well not really behind...would have been displaced to the 75 or 76 and been doing night hub turns to great falls or whatever the hell falls, lakes, rapids, etc for the next 10+ years.
I can honestly say, I wish FedEx never called me. Had a class date at United and Delta when they did. The fart huffing hubris of FedEx smelt so good from the outside. Did all the research I could before coming, but you truly don't know what you don't know until you see the inside of 121 operations with your own eyes. Worst professional decision I ever made. Choosing FedEx over DAL and UAL. Best professional decision I ever made, having the balls to leave. "The best company you could ever fly for"...the one that RS touted as "We are gonna pay you SOOOO much money to fly here that you won't know what to do with it. Your husbands and wives just got hired into the best job in the aviation industry!". What a joke. I'm just glad I was starting my 121 journey when I was hired. Plenty of time to correct my poor judgement. I feel bad for the poor souls who left other majors with 3, 4, 8+ years seniority to go rot in Memphis.
If you are reading this and considering leaving, do it if it is right for you. Hiring has slowed down at the majors, but still plenty of space if you have time on your side. Willing to move to a domicile? Don't even think twice. Run there now. Day flying, better contracts, unions who actually give a crap about their pilot group and aren't clamoring for management positions. If you've moved to Memphis or are confident you can stay on the 777, probably worth staying. I think I would have stayed if I was able to move to MEM77 on the displacement bid. At the end of the day, I'm glad I wasn't senior enough to and that I got the hell out of dodge.
Enjoy the ride wherever it takes you. I'm just glad mine will hopefully never take me through/to Memphis ever again.

Someone needs to get the word out to the Purple Runway folks. Those poor souls.

Glad you are happy were you are now. Your story is a good reminder that research doesn't simply mean listening to the good things that you want to hear. Hopefully, you have ghosted your friends from the navy that steered you away from DAL and UAL as well as those navy buddies that steered you toward Fedex. One thing that is confusing about your statement is that you say how bad it is at Fedex, yet say that you would have stayed if you could have held the 777 in Memphis.
confusing? pretty clear post…hub turns vs long haul and living in base. for someone who seems to really read between the lines and understand the fine print you missed that one.
nice try pinning it on the navy guys. it’s not any particular group when it comes to the kool aide here.
hands down, terrible culture and cultures don’t shift overnight so im willing to bet this dump has been the way it is for decades. I always ask the same question when someone says “it’s gotten worse”, what? the contract has been garbage since 2015….im willing to bet the one before that was garbage too. toxic management that chops pilots at their knees into fearing for their jobs. a union that has no backbone and is terrified to drive a campaign to push back against the company in any way. a pilot group that folds over and over in every aspect. “bar none” some of the worst flying you can do in this industry, and that just got worse since day flying will be stripped with the usps contract going away. I didn’t do long haul so I can’t speak to that, never have had interest in it so not interesting in waiting 5 years to get trained out to try a long haul fleet. bases in cities no one wants to live in (unless you enjoy bragging about having the biggest house in Eads, TN).
seriously, what’s to write home about this place even prior to negotiations? the icing on the cake was the sell job the pilots do to get others here. it’s like they’re trying to convince themselves it’s the place to be. if you even spoke about leaving you got looked at like you had 5 heads. “how are you gonna explain that you’re leaving FEDEX in an interview?? that’s gonna be tough” said one captain.
the egos and arrogance was outstanding here. one loop around AOC will tell you all you need to know.
enjoy the wonderful bank system that I was many times tried to convince was the coolest thing since rock music. whenever this place starts hiring again, those who get the interview shouldn’t need to think too hard about you’re decision,
lastly, good luck with your negotiations, while I hope it improves, the odds are against you. the company isn’t really good at negotiating, the pilot group and union are just really, really bad at it.
