I’m not the answer. you are.
yes, there are business models at play, and those models have programmed you to believe that you have little value to the equation. when in fact, we are the nuts and bolts of this business, one that profits handsomely off of our skills and energy. a business in which top-level managers believe that they are worth significant amounts, but to get there they must keep us in fear and enslaved. it’s the corporate model. until you value yourself as they do they will always win, and with every winner there is a loser.
Agree, I’d like to hear our executives answer if told they are worth 30% less than legacy Executives because they manage a cargo company. One that has been very profitable and has never seen bankruptcy. Believe me when I say I know my worth and how much harder I worked than my peers to get a job here. The reality that they have waltzed into these mega legacy deals sickens me daily. Thus, I’m ready to stick around here and fight to make it better. We can be proud to call ourselves FedEx pilots once again.
true unity would have us quite literally forcing higher compensation for our efforts. make no mistake, PM, we are NOT on the same team.
If only we weren’t at the mercy of an outdated RLA process and bound by the questionable regulations in the MEC policy manual. Rules that make us unable to see bullet points as the negotiations progress, for instance. In what way can we force higher compensation outside of the avenues we already pursued?
the pilot shortage is real. we’ve allowed far too many concessionary contracts for a highly profitable company. we give up QOL for less-than inflationary pay rates. and oh, we die off well before our sell-by dates. how many pilots have we lost this year? pilots that won’t collect a single pension check? this job is very demanding, know your worth.
Yes, the pilot shortage is real. But we don’t need any. We need less. I agree with your overall sentiment here though. The problem is that it proves my point about the reputation of what it means to be a FedEx pilot. We as a pilot group have been extremely vocal and have given people a true look behind the curtain. All it took was 10 months and a failed TA to become, what some have called, the laughing stock of the industry.

your defeatist attitude is why we’ve always accepted concessionary contracts. you are a blight to this union, or perhaps a company shill.
consider the long game. analyze the board, and stop blundering pieces.
it is a shame that we share the same profession, because you bring down the average. were you a mercy hire? a nepo- baby, or were you born with low self-esteem?

So if someone has a different take on things than the majority on this forum then “they are a blight”? This would be an extremely boring and unproductive forum if all we have here is “preaching to the choir.”

when you acquiesce to their demands because of fear, yes, you are morally weak.
and who cares if this forum is boring, I don’t come here for entertainment. there is hope we can for once unify in opposition to those who would have us believe that Wall Street and corporate executives deserve a much bigger slice of pie than us. but there will be zero unity when 43 percent side with the opposition.
zero concessions!
industry-leading pay!
A fund tied to IRS limits.
the company can afford these things, and we should demand them, not going around telling our peers why we don’t deserve better.
and yes, volumes ebb and flow, and presently we are ebbing, but the flow will come again, and we should position ourselves accordingly.
Imagine this attitude with an army at war. the enemy degrading us, and your brothers and sisters next to you adopting and reinforcing the enemy’s position. pathetic. you will lose every time. I’m telling you that I got your back, and you’re telling me the “reasons” why you don’t have mine.

Sounds like you’re describing a group of people working under a totalitarian regime. Last time I checked we all came here voluntarily and continue to work here under no compulsion.
There’s a few of us that work here that chose not to view our employer as the “opposition” as if going to work and going to war shared some similarities. Does that make us evil and traders? What a discouraging way to go through life.

and I go through life quite well.
the war analogy is of course hyperbole, but fitting, especially when two parties are sitting across the table from one another, negotiating.”
