Reading this thread sucks but unfortunately I think there is a lot of truth in it. I was a 5 year UAL guy when Covid hit, it was a very uncertain time in the pax world and cargo was most certainly king. Most of us applied to FDX and UPS. A UAL classmate and I were some of the fortunate few to make it through the FDX selection and offered class dates. My buddy went, I ended up staying put at UAL as by the time I got a class things were turning around and it was announced that hiring was to begin again soon at UAL. I chat with my friend often and even after 2.5 years in, he wishes he would have stayed put at UA. Overall he's happy and is a glass half full sort of guy, but as this thread suggests there is certainly some buyers remorse going on. Wish ya'll the best with the contract and hope hiring starts up again soon. Cheers!

Are you worried that the good deal double DH schedules and long layovers will go away like UPS?

That would a sure way to get a 100% “NO” vote from the pilot group.

There are very few things that would unite our crew force to vote “NO” with near-100% agreement. Losing DHs would be one of those things.

I asked a UPS buddy once, “what’s changed for the worst at UPS over your 20 years..”

he didn’t hesitate, his DH to Asia was now on a UPS plane with a ANC layover vs the first class airline seat he once use to take..

Hopefully FDX can prevent that..

Our NC gave up FC deadheads in the last contract, and they were so stupid, they did not even realize they did it, in spite of multiple people point it out to them.

Read any TA carefully. Listen to the people who give opposing views. Those views, over the past 25 years, have been remarkably correct.

Be ready and willing to vote no.

I agree with you completely but that was a completely different NC. This current group (to include the MEC Reps and Officers) is well aware of our past and had learned from it. I have total faith in them!
cheers,

I’m not sure how UPS got schedule optimizer by the pilot group. I’ve heard that long layovers are a thing of the past. 24 hours max unless it’s a weekend.
