There’s no documentation. That’s actually why I posted. As stated, it’s a rumor. Rumor source is a pilot friend who seems to be in tune with the numbers. He’s been correct in anticipating the other recent hiring pushbacks. They stopped interviewing around Nov. It was then pushed back to Jan, then June. Why do you think it’s not likely to get pushed back again? Hopefully you’re correct. Just trying to understand the situation at FedEx.
I was at the MEC meeting today in Memphis. I heard a few conversations amongst our senior crew members that if our retirement section that has recently been TA'd, is as good as the union is saying it will be (albeit, they didn't release specifics), that they will put in their notice. Overnight, we could have hundreds of (pre-65) pilots retire rather quickly, on top of our 127 scheduled age 65 retirements this year. Many here believe that is one of the reasons that the company hired as much as they did in the last two years, to anticipate a flood of retirements once a contract is signed. We would go from being overstaffed, to right-sized, and perhaps maybe even slightly understaffed almost overnight.
