Examiners used to openly admit they were failing initial cfi applicants on the first ride.
Of course there should be a limit on the number of failures, and people should own their failure but I don't see how your private checkride failure 10 years ago should stop you from getting a job at the majors.

More than likely a system glitch, ask your friend to keep pestering his/her fleet captain to find out why it is showing six failures.
