What? How would this even make sense? You think they’re gonna excess from where to where? Airbus and MD to…777 and 767?

They’re just gonna drag their a$$es training out the bid.

Yeah, isn't that what they did in 2013 I think it was? Excessed off the MD and Bus to the 77/76/75. I could see them dragging it out as well. If they want to park more airplanes quickly, I think they'd have to excess.

I wasn’t around when it happened last time but I don’t think we are in a similar situation at this point. Nobody is talking about parking any Airbus and the MD10s getting parked have been planned for how long now? Those fleets are properly staffed right now.

Thanks. Thought it was the MD and Bus. It’s been a while. Some guys were hired into the back seat of the 72, upgraded to right seat of the MD, then got excesses into the right seat of the 75, all in their first year and a half. Two were in my crash pad in endless training.

Point is, IF they park more than they are saying right now, then I think they’ll excess.

Called it months ago on numerous thread’s. Draft/AVA/VBB starts drying up and the world is ending.

Now we know why negotiations takes 3-5 years. We are our own worst enemies. If you partook then thank yourself and fellow pilots who sold themselves out the past year.

Makes sense and it would be nice at all outfits if the needs of the many outweighed the needs of the few or the one. This hasn’t been the climate even outside of the industry. Granted, those at the top having retired these past couple of years or in the next couple were able to pad their exit. I don’t advocate, but there is some logic. We’re not in negotiations by any means, but everyone is trying to rake it in while the gettings good which has been great… It will eventually disappear and who knows what lies in the future…no real impact fortunately.

So what are you suggesting should have been done?

If hiring stops and some fleets are over manned while others are under manned, it wouldn't surprise me if another bid came out requiring pilots in the over manned fleets to bid out. All that has to happen is for the company to put the required number of pilots as less than the actual number of pilots in a seat.
