Does FedEx pay for lodging during fleet training or only indoc? I believe old policy was you were on your own for lodging during aircraft training, wondering if anything has changed there.

You’re correct, just indoc, but not fleet training. Union is negotiating for hotels the whole time, but not sure why we are waisting negotiating capital on something that will affect us only once in our career here.

Because Crashpads suck when you are only making $4,000 a month and may even have a family to feed. Agreed it shouldn’t be the top (or even in the top 5) items, but seeing as how every other airline does better in this regard, even the regionals, why not at least try.

BTW, any non-Facebook MEM Crashpad listings?

I am seeing people say RST isn’t really the interview prep needed now. I’m hearing Emerald Coast and Spitfire is more geared towards the interview now. Is this true?

If we're going to try, we should boost training pay to min guarantee or 90hrs of credit like UAL does. That way newhires will be able to afford their crashpad (which most of them will need anyway), plus they'll have a little extra money to feed the family. My crashpad is far nicer than any MEM hotel, and having a full kitchen saved me hundreds of dollars on food in ITU while also letting me eat healthier.

Ultimately, hotels or higher year 1 pay is something the company should be asking us for, not the other way around.

We should be asking for hotels for every training event after newhire ITU, as that's something that benefits literally every single one of us.

Check the flyers posted in the coffee break-rooms in AOTC.

Yes.

Historically you needed RST to get through the day 1 stuff, then a company like ECIC, Spitfire, Cage, etc to get through day 2.

I guess now that day 1 is done at home, you just need to prep for a CUT-E type test and then do ECIC, Spitfire, Cage, etc for day 2.

Ummm, please expound on this ^ Do you pay for your own hotels when returning for required training events when not flying the line? How about per diem? Just asking out of curiosity if this is an obligation for your entire career… If so, is it because you are expected to live in base; otherwise, it’s all on you? Hopefully a dumb question but Thx ahead of the answer.

Yes, unless you're based somewhere that is not MEM, any time you go to training in MEM, you're on your own for transportation, lodging, etc. Not sure if we get per diem for the few hours you're in the sim, didn't care enough to look.

We also have an MD-11 sim in ANC, so the ANC based MD-11 guys have to get themselves up there for CQ and find their own lodging.

We have a great contract in some areas (vacation), but a lousy contract in others.
