Weeks, months, years. Go to job fairs, get face time with recruiters, get your app reviewed, network, the more effort you put in, the more likely you’ll get a call sooner. Some folks just apply and get an interview quickly, others don’t for whatever reason.

This should give you an idea. I have never used this website, I have no affiliation with the company but it has been mentioned a few times before.

Depends on so many things it is impossible to tell. The shortest I’ve heard about is an individual who retired, applied during the last few weeks of active duty with an endorsement and was hired within two months.

You MUST have flight currency. I think they need at least 100 hours in a year. One extremely qualified candidate, because of a furlow, did not have 100 hours and FedEx refused to hire the candidate despite many of us writing emails and putting in good words.

I tell all of my friends who are thinking of applying to start the process at least one year prior to getting out (if they are in the military).

Currency has shifted to a 24 month look back. I was 14 months out of the plane during my interview this spring.

This may be dated, but I believe that is for transitioning military only. In February I spoke with John Hunt regarding the person I gave my PE to and he told me that’s what they were doing.

Jazzed to be coming on board so pardon this question: what are the advantages of bidding the 757 over any other airframe? I understand that there is a wb activation pay if you have no choice but to take the 75 and it’s your last choice, but what pros to scheduling, trading, upgrades, etc does the 75 provide? I always had my eye set on the 76, but a part of me thinks that if I don’t get the 75 out of the gates I may not see it unless I upgrade into it. Anyways, I’m jazzed to fly anything. Thanks in advance!

Fastest movement and a short course if/when you transition to the 767. Caveat emptor, that could be a LONG time. I’d plan two years minimum in your initial aircraft.

Why do you want to see the 75? If you prefer the 76 then bid the 76.

Advantages of the 75?

I guess it’s better than flying the bus

Is it though? If we stopped hiring tomorrow I’d rather be stuck in the bus with that widebody pay.
