That’s precisely his point!

To add to this, it would also be nice to also have protection for all commuters, not just those who Jumpseat.

Second, there is not any different restriction for jumpseating into an international trip.

There is a section in the contract that covers all of this.
First, you say there’s no 13:30 restriction, then you admit there’s a restriction for protection. Which is it? I didn’t mention FAR.

Second, people have been pulled off 777 international trips when they commuted in the same evening.

Try again please.

no rules are broken. I agree it’s ridiculous to have the 13:30 to be protected in the contract. Are schedulers calling Memphis local pilots to ensure they are in bed for a nap before their international departure?…I agree it needs to go.

Not in over 10 years way back when JG was the fleet Captain. It’s an old wives tale now and keeps getting perpetuated by the uninformed. It doesn’t happen. If you want to commute into a trip it’s no problem. Many choose not to either because they commute on our own metal and have no back up for their one trip of the month or they’re flying first and want to be rested. I did it plenty of time as an RFO from a city with multiple flights to MEM every night.

Posting the same thing twice, I must have really upset you.

You stated 13:30 duty restriction. Your words. I am simply pointing out that the contract states 13:30 from show until the scheduled end of your day. It even states that jumpseating isn’t duty. It sounded to me like you were saying that if you were going to be on duty for more than 13:30 you couldn’t jumpseat. Lack of protection doesn’t make it a restriction.

Others have already pointed out your error on international trips, but if you can give me the contract reference for the restriction for jumping into an international trip, I’d love to see it.

Of course no one stops anyone from commuting in however they want whenever they want with risks to each choice. His whole point was the protection language. That’s why he mentioned 1330. If you reread his comment in the actual context of the conversation, improving commuter protection in the contract, you could see why he mentioned 1330 as a desired clause to remove from the contract.

Thanks for the backup. Unfortunately, some people are incapable of seeing the forest for the trees. Best not to argue with them. It’s kinda like wrestling with a pig, both get muddy, but the pig actually enjoys it.

Pinseeker, we’re all on the same team. But there’s about 5000 different viewpoints. I was just giving mine. If you disagree, cool.

Glad you enjoyed the wrestling, now I need to go wash the mud off. Maybe you can go back to your pen with your backup buddy.
