Commuting WB FO…or in domicile WB CA?

Can you give specifics to back your opinion? Because I commuted for the airlines for 5 years and it was hell. In my opinion, commuting at FedEx is infinitely easier- park at the ramp and walk into ops in a couple minutes, no TSA/bag drag across the terminal, no standby lists, no huffing from gate to gate, no passengers to compete with, reliable FedEx flights, travel bank money to buy tickets on pax carriers if you want, travel bank money to hire towncars, etc. I got none of those perks at the airlines and was always stressed I’d get bumped from my flight.

I'm with you. The mechanics of commuting at FedEx (IMO) are much better than the pax airlines. Maybe he's talking about the commuting policies at the pax carriers. That's where they have us beat. Things like "if you are commuting and have two backups and don't make it, there's no penalty" and things like that. Those kinds of things are all I can think of to be honest.
But yes cargo commuting is definitely easier than pax..so I've been told.

Just the uncertainty of pax commuting - especially now days - is just not worth the hassle IMO. If I’m going to work, I’ll drive further and leave earlier 10/10 times to catch a FDX flight over sweating it out in the pax terminal.
Never been left behind on FDX which is more than I can say for UA, DL, WN, and AA and I’ve used FDX way more often than all the others combined.
You ever see how much room you have for activities in the A300???

Commuting in FDX is much easier and excellent. However our commuting policy in the contract is subpar. Who cares if it is over 13:30 from show to block in. No major or regional airline has that limitation. No real protections on deviations either.

I also submitted commuter policy improvements but unfortunately didn’t make the short list.

This is what he probably meant. The commuter policy at FedEx isn’t as good as it was at my previous regional airline and most other airlines in general.

Another is our duty restriction of 13:30. Why?
I’m not international, but I think they have a restriction to be in base 12hr prior to a trip. Why?
If you live in a FedEx serviced city and are MEM based, it can be pretty good. Unless there’s a lot of other FedEx commuters there like Denver. Sure would be nice if those guys were protected trying to take the direct flight on united into Memphis.

This is exactly what I mean. Our only protection is if you’re on a FedEx plane. Sucks for those of us that don’t live in a city with fedex service. Or how about those that are not based in Memphis. FedEx options (our only protection) are almost nil. Sure would be nice to show I tried twice on United/Delta/American and not have to worry about repercussions.

Second, there is not any different restriction for jumpseating into an international trip.
There is a section in the contract that covers all of this.

First, there is no duty restriction, jumseating doesn't count as duty time. If the time from your jumpseat show time to the end of your duty day is more than 13:30, then you are not afforded the jumpseat protections.
