FEDEX Hiring 2021
#212
Hi Gang,
Considering throwing my hat in the ring. Currently junior FO at one of the "other" legacies, age 54. Would appreciate some insight...
1. LAX and OAK: Generally how senior, how long to bid into?
2. Realistic first year gross?
3. Realistic second year gross (with just a little hustle)?
4. A Plan: Do you need ten years to qualify?
5. CGN: Can you bid in and out like any other base, or are there special requirements? Base lock?
6. Scheduling flexibility? Good, bad, indifferent? PBS?
7. Worth it at my age?
Thanks!

1. LAX=Senior now. OAK=Junior, maybe as a new hire.
2. $100k
3. $200k
4. Vested at 5 years. Possibly getting out of the traditional A plan, we'll see.
5. There is a minimum commitment, don't remember the length, with a maximum of 4.5 years.
6. Depends, can be good depending on manning. Seniority helps a lot.
7. That is best left to you.
Hope this helps. Others may paint a brighter or gloomier picture, but I think this is realistic.

FEDEX Hiring 2021
I would say LAX is top heavy. Very senior at the top but very junior on the bottom 20%. They sent one or two new hires there on the last bid before this last one came out. And this one has a few vacancies for new hires. Although they will probably wait until they train out most of rhe MD guys before they send any new hires there, like they did on the last bid. And the next bid may not come out for another 18+ months. But you should be able to get it on the next bid after you get hired if it goes like the last two.

6) Usually excellent schedule flexibility compared to pax airlines, but not so much during Covid since we are crazy busy. Line bidding, but our secondary line bidding is effectively a sh!tty PBS system.
