FEDEX Hiring 2021
#122
No matter what PTB says, FedEx Pilots have ALWAYS had PBS for Secondary\VTO construction.
Under the Previous Software system, there was absolutely No transparency and the Global Constraints that are much-maligned was ops normal.
Under the Previous Software System, Pilots would input a preference Prefers Deadheads...then CRS would input that into the system. Sounds great right? But sometimes CRS would make a mistake and invert it. So Request's DH's became Avoid DHs in the PBS software with the ugly results. No practice solution back then. No reasons reports. And no way to fix it.
If you could get the company to answer WTF...they'd say, Oh our bad. But it's a VTO Request.
During regular non-holiday months, let's say September. The most common advice to get a Specific set of Days off during the month was to input a Preference Requesting to Work those days.
Add in the simple fact that when Reserve Pilots conflicted RB or RSV days with: vacation, training, carryover trips\R days. Through the almighty power of CRS, those RB and RSV days were transmuted into RA.
Funny thing is, as much as people occasionally complain about the Current PBS system. No one wants to Revert to the previous one.
Instead, the complaint is that the SLG software is still in the works, low these many years.
But if you go back 4 years, the complaints were that the Reasons report, the additional Vacation tools, the expanded VTO preferences would never be implemented.
Previous VTO system used to be about 10 blank lines that you entered your requests.
Could only input about 5 trips on a line. So, something like (and these are all 5 day pairings)
231/8Oct, 142/7Oct, 229/7Oct, 377/7 Oct, 362/8 Oct (Software wouldn't take them in order either, so even though 231 is trip #1...that could go to someone Junior
And pretty much any trip input on line 3 or 4 was virtually guaranteed to be awarded to someone Junior if they put it in the #1 or #2 request because of how the System weighted the inputs.
And that was if the CRS person who translated your request didn't make any typos.
Oh the glory days of the previous system.

I'm assuming this is your Pilot Profile (not the Invitation to Apply from Pilot Hiring). If so, this is normal. You won't receive a confirmation e-mail. However, as long as you can see your profile when you log in, you're good.

Okay I'm a UAL pilot looking to make the jump. You apply on FedEx careers website correct?
Are you saying you need an invitation to apply?

When they decide they want to bring you in for an interview, they pull your profile and send you the link to the actual application. The profile is the key right now, though. Fill it out and update often.

Thank you. Can anyone confirm they are currently hiring?
