Why would management do this unless there is a distinct benefit to them in the long term? I know if ups wanted to talk about ANYTHING outside of contract negotiations, they would have a definite benefit we have that they want.

We actually don't know if management is willing to talk about our retirement plan outside of negotiations. Our union has simply reached a point where they have something to present to the company. Our union claims this proposal represents a win win for the company and pilot group. With that said, the company could just say thanks, but no thanks in which case this will have to wait until our current contract comes up for renegotiation.

Something? That none of the rank and file have ANY specifics on?

Wouldn't it be appropriate to run whatever it is by US first before they "present" it to the company?

They can't try to sell it to us until the company tells them to.

I have heard from reliable sources that the company offered to up the high five to $300K and the union said no. Why????

Night I don't know who your source is, but I personally know members of the negotiating comm and the MEC during the last negotiations and also a friend who was on the company side and that is completely false. The company never offered that or most likely ever will. You may have some good points, but you shouldn't be spreading false information.

And the Wet Lease Funds were used to fund the Medicare Supplement VEBA that everyone is eligible for (now anyways) not the pre Medicare 25k that only special pilots got.

Thank you for reposting all that information and your thoughts, DLax85. It's been a year that I've been dealing with more critical issues, and have forgotten/neglected many other things.

I'm a Fx bus guy with 18yrs on the property and hardly ever post on here, but seriously, is this pilot group actually considering giving up our rock solid A-Fund in exchange for a variable annuity? WTF, IS THIS UNION OUT OF THEIR FRIGGIN MIND??????? If this turd gets sugar coated and pushed through by the union, we will officially go down as the all time dumbest pilot group in the history of aviation.

Do not scrap the company A-plan, push to increase the limits instead OR add other vehicles to complement the whole retirement portfolio in meaningful ways!!!
